My wife and I have stayed several times at Tyn-y-Wern over the years, and can not praise the establishment high enough. From the moment we enter the drive way to immaculately tended gardens and a large guest parking facility we know our short break has begun. We always receive a warm welcome from Mr & Mrs Tomlinson who delight in running a spotless, well maintained and spacious accomodation.
Our immaculate double room with a lovely comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom at the front of the building had absolutely stunning views across the hills, which only adds to the whole experience.
Continental breakfast was more than adequate and served again in a spotlessly clean breakfast room representing excellent value for money. We would have no hesitation in recommendig the Tyn-y-Wern to anybody wanting a top quality place to stay in Llangollen and very much look forward to our next visit.

This is the first time I have reviewed a property but after reading one other review entitled "Strange" I feel I must reply. We were the other couple that this person refers too, we were checking in at the same time by accident and we did check in as Mr and Mrs because when you have been married for 34 years thats what we call ourselves and whether its 2011 or not, if you go away for a dirty weekend (or one night if you can't afford more) dont bring this into the review of the property you are staying at. We found both chris and richard very pleasent people and the rooms are spotless and very well kept, it's not too far to walk into Llangollen and Chris told us to walk the back way which I didn't have a problem with at all. As for CCTV on the property, whats the problem? unless you have something to hide, how else would they know if you need something. I would have no problem in recommending this place. Just one thing, it's up for sale at the moment and so only 4 rooms are used (it has 12) but it would be lovely if this place could be opened up to its full potential

Room Tip: double room at the front of hotel has wonderful viewssue

We were delighted to see your review and thank you very much for taking the trouble to redress the nastiness and unfairness of Sian D. As you quite rightly say, we do have the place for sale and have only four letting rooms out of twelve. Our daughter in law is training to become a paramedic so the shifts, long hours and study meant the only sensible way to provide ongoing support for the family was for them all to move in. Its her gym that is mentioned in an earlier review. Mum lives with us too so you can see how such a large building can so quickly shrink!

We like to be in reception to welcome our guests so the CCTV has been invaluable in providing a view of the car park. After dark we are unable to distinguish between the headlights of new arrivals and those guests already checked in so I'm at the door every time until the final guest has arrived.

I hope this quells any concerns prospective visitors may have about staying at the Tyn y Wern. Its a beautiful part of the world and well worth a visit - you will be made most welcome. May I finally say a big 'thank you' to all our lovely guests and wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. Chris and Richard Tomlinson

“COMFORT & CLEANLINESS”

We were delighted with the location, views and upon entering the building its contemporary style. Bedroom, no4 had extremely pictureque views of the hills, with double windows. It was warm, spacious, and spotlessly clean with a very nice ensuite. A lovely bed, with the most comfortable pillows I have ever come across, and I usually travel with a pillow!. Our breakfast was very well presented, with a wide selection to select served at a time to suit our schedule. As the previous guest says nothing was too much trouble for the very kind and helpful proprietor, Chris.

Room Tip: from room, with double aspect windows. (no 4)

“Excellent accommodation”

I have read the most recent review from Sian D on this guest house and I'm not sure we are talking about the same place.
We stayed for not one but three nights and we were delighted with the accommodation, the property was spotlessly clean which for us was a huge bonus and yes there were Egyptian cotton sheets but for those that do not appreciate quality they are the most expensive sheets to buy and the hardest to iron.
The breakfast is a continental but there is plenty to choose from and we were very happy with it.
Chris the landlady is a lovely lady, nothing seemed to much trouble for her.
As for the CCTV I think I'm right in saying the reason for that is they live at the back of the property and that gives them the opportunity to see guests arriving, that dose not make it a prison. Had the previous guest looked on Google maps she would have seen the guest house is about a mile out of Llangollen.

I too run a B&B in Suffolk so I know a bit about what guests hope to expect and I couldn't find any fault and at the price they are charging I don't think anyone could ask for more.
It is very easy to ruin someone's reputation by posting nasty comments, it is a lot harder to build it up again, but then there's always one.

Room Tip: Ask for the room at the front, it has breathtaking views.

“Strange”

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for one night and one night was enough!!!!! We were greeted by a landlady who thought she was either a comedian or had a very funny sense of humour which I can tell you she did not!!! She greeted me and my boyfriend in front of another couple who had just booked in as "mr and mrs" I mean its 2011, I was too polite to correct her for fear she would refuse us accommodation. Room was very clean and tidy, but the sheets were awful, egyptian cotton!!! more like hospital cotton !!!!!! No full Welsh Breakfast which was very dissapointing! As one reviewer said and I doubt he was snooping as you could see it clearly through the windows, there was a gym and a nice patio area that overlooked the scenery but these were out of bounds. There is cctv all around the building and I felt as if I was being watched all the time. The landlady seem to appear from nowhere whilst we were walking around!!!! It took a good 20mins to walk to the nearest bar/restaurant, thank goodness it was a nice day/evening. On our return in the evening the code to the door was locked and hey presto the landlady appeared!!! I am sure as we were from Cardiff she did not trust just lol

All in all nice clean accommodation, but one paranoid landlady who runs the guest house almost like a prison. Needless to say we will not be going there ever again !

Room Tip: Dont choose a room

This is not a review, it is a personal attack. As such, it should not be allowed to be published. This couple came looking to find fault, clearly in support of Mr C (also from Cardiff........) draw your own conclusions.

I formally request Trip Advisor to withdraw this on the grounds that it is unfair and unreasonable to allow contributors to attack accommodation providers on a personal level such as this.
