We booked this hotel as we had stayed here many years ago and wanted to return. Upon arrival we were greeted in reception by a lady who was very miserable and made me and my husband feel unconfortable. We were told we couldn't have a drink as the bar was closed! The rooms were outdated and dirty, the dust really aggravated my asthma too. We went out to visit the beautiful valley, and when returning to the hotel, all the curtains were drawn and the door was locked. We walked around the back of the hotel and were eventually let in. We had one drink in the bar when it finally opened and Phillipe the barman was the most incapable barman I have ever seen. He had no conversation and we sat there whilst he and his family watched tv loudly around the corner. We were not made to feel welcome at all, in fact we were made to feel to feel like very unwanted guests. You'd think they'd have valued our custom but I don't think they wanted us there or anyone else for that matter! We were glad to leave! Wouldn't recommed to anybody!

only stayed one night and that was too long. the welcome was a cold one and it made us feel very uncomfortable, the bar did not open till 6pm and we would have loved a cool drink on arrival but were not offered one so we went down the road to the swan. we ate out in llangollan and went back to the golden pheasant in the evening as we felt as though we were intruding we stayed in our room. this was a very dated room the bathroom was clean but the bedroom was dusty. we didn't bother with breakfast so cannot comment on the food, but when first impressions count it was very off putting. will definitely NOT go back!!!!

Had a lovely meal here 2 weeks ago it was a last minute change of plan. We were not dissapointed again. Its not a place to be rushed they are very laid back.,So if you are not in a hurry and are prepared to wait give it a try.

We have just returned from a two night break in this beautiful part of Wales, surrounded by fantastic walking country.This was a last minute booking as we realised that the accommodation we had booked was not dog friendly, and this was a big pull for the Golden Pheasant.The room was extremely comfortable, with large wooden furniture and views overlooking the lush valleys and fields.Staff were very courteous and polite and the breakfast was more than adequate.There did seem to be a slight mix up with our booking of a table in the bar but this was resolved and we were able to enjoy our meal.I do feel that more could be made of this pub which does have so much potential but seems to lack a certain something.
