“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I cannot praise this hotel highly enough.

We have just come back from a weekend at the Castlebank, recommended by friends who we were staying with. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night, but would have loved to have stayed longer.

The owners are welcoming and friendly, with a good local knowledge of places to visit. the hotel itself is clean and beautifully decorated, extremely cosy with a fire and wonderful sofas to relax in. Ideal for a winter's evening!

Our bedroom (number 8), was lovely. Yes, the shower room is small, but at the end of the day it is for showering in! The room itself was spacious, the beds were extremely comfortable and, again beautifully decorated, Henrique and Jo have thought of every last detail - even down to providing earplugs! I do dislike those tiny milk cartons (but accept them as inevitable) and it's very irrititating when there are just enough for two drinks, however, Henrique and Jo, provide plenty along with biscuits and sweets!

Breakfast was wonderful, a wide choice allowing you to choose as much or as little as you want and all beautifully cooked. With coffee and tea being topped up as and when.

We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Conway.

“Full of Warmth and Character”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My wife and I stayed at Castlebank Hotel for 2 nights and found it to be full of charm. The owners were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Our room (Parisian themed) was very nicely decorated and clean, with an extremely comfortable bed. The view from this particular room was unremarkable but others presumably look out onto Conwy castle.

The lounge and restaurant were very nicely presented and exuded warmth. Breakfast was great. The whole experience was entirely positive. We would definitely visit again.

“Best in Conwy NO CONTEST!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

We don't usually write reviews as we prefer not to scrutinise family-run businesses openly, but we had such a fantastic time that we felt we had to voice our experience!

We booked in to the hotel on the day and were allowed to check in a full two hours earlier (it was quieter than usual). We were shown around the stunning hotel firstly; there's a lounge with an open fire place where you can read and use the free Internet provided, and there's a bar and restaurant area just opposite. There's even a folder to select a DVD to watch!

We were then shown to our room which was immaculately clean. The interior was great, and tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits were provided. Jo and Henrique are exceptional hosts, and gave us any information we needed on places to visit in town.

Breakfast was traditional English fare, cooked to order, really filling and of a very high standard.

Conwy is a really beautiful and, in our opinion, underrated town, and we recommend anyone thinking of visiting to do it, especially when there are places like this to stay. We are based in Japan where the service standard is high, but this is right up there with the best of them! Book now!

“Great romantic Getaway”

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for two night for our anniversary and we absolutely loved the place! We stayed in room number 3, decor was lovely with a super king sized bed that was very comfortable. Probably one of the my best night's sleep in a bed other than my own! Breakfast is made to order and cooked very well. If you want a nice romantic getaway, close to local attractions, then this is the best place to stay in. Our saturday night was spent chilling out by their open fire. Ahhh...

It is run by a lovely family and you can feel that as soon as you enter. Princess Ruby is adorable by the way! I am used to staying in 4/5 star hotels but the comfort, unique decor of each room and cozy nature of the place, makes this one of my favourite hotels. It will definitely be one to return to.

“Are we talking about the same place?”

I travel to north Wales a lot and tried the Castlebank because of all the positive reviews. I really was surprised and disappointed to find myself in a pretty typical guest house. The owners are charming but several things, not least their heating system rather let them down - no central heating in my room, just an elderly and noisy fan heater of some sort. The building seemed a bit dated (horrible floral carpets) and cluttered with far too many knick knacks of dubious style and quality. I think a good clear out and then a simple uncluttered presentation of the rooms would make for a far more restful stay. My room had a microscopic bathroom (with central heating!) but the shower was not working - when I reported this I was gently told that I should have mentioned this before, though I did rather feel that the owners might have checked their rooms were functioning before putting people in them.
Perfectly decent basic breakfast with friendly service.
I don't recognise the place getting rave reviews.

Room Tip: Check the shower and heating on arrival - in case the owners haven't.
