The room was very nice although the service was abysmal. They asked for an arrival time, and I gave them one, yet when I arrived there was a post-it note on the door saying ring this number. I did, but nobody answered and I sat on the doorstep for 40 minutes before I was let in. I was visiting Abergavenny for a wedding and was subsequently late to the church. Then, when I got back in the evening I arrived to a note under my door saying that I wouldn't be getting breakfast even though I had booked it, although I wouldn't be charged. It also said just to leave my keys on the side in the morning because nobody would be around. In addition to this I was woken about 1am with the owners having a shouting match with a guest in the corridor outside my room. I left about 9am in the morning, but because I had paid in advance for my breakfast I couldn't get a refund for the breakfast there and then. So I emailed the owner after my stay and asked for my breakfast money back (20 pounds). First she said I hadn't paid then for breakfast and when I proved I had, she said they couldn't refund my card and would mail a cheque for the refund instead. She said she would post it. After a couple of months I contacted her again saying I hadn't recieved any cheque and she said she had posted it and therefore she had refunded me. I still have never recieved a refund. After that she didn't want to communicate with me anymore. The owner was very blunt, just one line emails, and I don't believe they ever posted a cheque-there is no way they could be organised enough and coodinated to implement a refund process such as that. As I said, the rooms are nice, but if you expect any friendly service as part of staying at a B&B don't go to Ty Llew.
