Comfortable rooms, great food, Superb views, unbeatable value and lovely hosts; If this isn't what a truly great B&B should be like then I don't know what is!
To quote one quite ridiculously defamatory review here "where do I start!". I called the landlady of the establishment after 9pm to ask if she had a room, absolutely no problem at all and having arrived even later at nearly 10pm, was welcomed by very jovial lady who showed me to a spotless and quite immaculately furnished room. Yes, the room was not en-suite, but this is something that I understand is due to be done later this year, and to be honest, such was the superb finish of the property that for once I really didn't mind.
I went down to breakfast the next morning to be met with a stunning view down the valley from the dining room. Again immaculately clean and laid out, I was greeted with a superb breakfast bar of the normal cereals complimented by a selection of fine teas, fresh coffee, juice, yoghurts and a wonderful bowl of fresh soft fruits (Melon, Blueberries, Strawberries, Kiwis etc). The proprietor then came in with an amazing cooked breakfast that was truly substantial in proportion, and so over and above the standard B&B fare. Good Bacon and Sausages, grilled cherry tomatoes, mushrooms in butter and rosemary, eggs, beans, hash browns, toast and crumpets. I didn't need to eat again till the evening!
Yes, the owner did engage me in polite and friendly conversation, something that another reviewer here has described as "false", but I truly do pity the poor cynic who feels that a rather upbeat and friendly disposition means that the person must be false.
The nature of my business means that I have to travel the country, staying in 2 to 3 hotels/B&Bs per week, every week, and I can honestly say that this so far above the average quality of a B&B in this country that I actually found it ridiculously good value. It is easy in this country to spend over £70 per night for rooms that are decorated to a much lower standard, be greeted by people who seem wholly unimpressed to be visited by you, and get served a breakfast that frankly makes McDonalds feel like a luxury so, without wanting to make this too much of a personal review (Curtis :-0 ) and respecting the fact that we all view things differently, how on earth someone could have stayed here and then leave a review of such derision makes me wonder if they stayed in the same place as me!
