“An expensive mistake.”

Paid in full in advance, non refundable. Unable to get there on first day due to snow. Phoned to say that we hoped to be there the next day. Phoned early next day to confirm we would be arriving at 13.00 hours. Was told that room would not normally be cleaned by then. I asked why it had nor been cleaned for us the day before. Was told because we had said we were not coming that day. Immediately smelled a rat. On arrival we were told that room not ready as previous occupant had vacated at 11.00. They had relet our room. Were allowed into as yet uncleaned room to leave our bags and use toilet prior to attending funeral. Sheets and duvet cover had been removed and in our opinion under bedding and carpet were filthy. We could easily have wanted possession of the room that we had paid for much earlier than 11.00 but someone else had been placed there. There is more but others have said it. We left taking our bags with us as we could not face sleeping in that room and made arrangements elsewhere. An expensive mistake.

“Awful Place, Not a Hotel - More Like a Prison!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

This has to be the most awful place I have ever had the misfortune to stay at. We booked a room after seeing the amazing pictures on their website, when we got there we realised that the picture of the building we thought we were staying in was in fact the next building over!

We were shown to our room which was heartbreaking when they opened the door - it was tired, shabby and tiny! The double bed was pushed up against the wall so that you could get into the room - the T.V. was tiny and up on a wardobe so we couldn't see it, it only got two channels! The bathroom was dirty and had broken tiles and bits coming off the ceiling. It also stank of urine and someone had in fact done a wee and left it in the toilet!!!

When we returned home from an evening out we went to bed only to be woken from the noise coming from downstairs, when I went down to complain, I was abruptly told that there was a lock-in and would therefore have to put up with it - they even had the sport blaring from their massive T.V. and only the barman was watching. I didn't any sleep and felt that the staff had been extremely rude about my objections to the noise. To make matters worse, every time someone came up the stairs, they banged their doors and this seemed to go on all night!

Needless to say I was extremely glad to leave the next morning and I felt as though I had a hangover due to the lack of restful sleep - I had not touched a drop of booze but almost wished I had!

I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy - Stay here at your peril and I think Trading Standards should pay them a visit because of the misleading photos on their website - you won't be staying in the rooms that look nice - or even the building that they show!

Room Tip: There arent any good rooms here - so stay somewhere else!

“No frills, No problems....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

I'm amazed at the sheer volume of negative feedback. Through work I have stayed every year for the last 6 years and never had a problem (touch wood). The location is excellent, on a quiet street over looking the pier and out across the straits to Beaumaris and Llandudno in the distance.

Whilst I agree the hotel is dated and the decor needing to be brought into the 21st Century it's not the filthy sesspit that appears to be the norm on the reviews. If people are looking for updated, modern (apart from reception & staircase) robotic customer service you won't find it here, you need the Celtic Royal in Caernarfon.

I've always found it to be clean, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Facilities aren't great but you're not paying a huge amount to stay. Food is decent, drinks are reasonably priced. Breakfast, never had an issue.

The main housekeeper is an absolute gem of a woman who will attend to anything you ask, want or need.

Whilst some reviews are tragic (the condom one), some just appear out of spite at the smallest detail. Some, it appears, want Marriott quality for B&B prices.

Eryl Mor I will always recommend.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

When we arrived the room did not look as if it had been finished off properly. The bed although made up wasn't very well made. There was the lid of a drinks bottle on the bedside table. One of the bedside lamps did not work. However the worst thing was the condom floating in the toilet!

Would not stop here again!

“A really lovely, welcoming hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

First of all, this is not a 2 star in our opinion - it's a 3 star. The staff are all so lovely and helpful. The food is delicious, breakfast is really spot on and the room we had was huge and very comfy! We had the family room with our dog and it was absolutely no problem at all. The shower was fantastic. We all slept really well. The view is incredible right onto the seafront. We visit family in Wales often and have been to many hotels and b&b's. We will definately be making this our regular. Not blowing our own trumpet but we normally frequent 5 star hotels, so on arrival, I personally thought it was a 4 star on the sign, ( 2 stars were on show at either side of the hotel name ) but it is in fact a 2 star and honestly it should be more ! Don't hesitate to visit, the staff, the food and hotel itself is worth every penny ! Will be booking in December again.
