We stayed at the Abbey Hotel just for Saturday night to coincide with a trip to the Festival Theatre. From the view of the creeper covered front to the massive staircase everything is traditional and grand. We asked for a high floor room at the back overlooking the vale as suggested by another reviewer and our request was catered for without a problem. We pre-booked a set meal ( but with three choices ) for a very reasonable price and everything was very good, well presented and hot, if there is a criticism it was that there were not many vegetables. The service was superb. The breakfast was as grand as the hotel, it was buffet style and simply everything was there, again the service was first class with the used dishes being removed between every plateful. We were worried that we might not be able to park but the private car park is on a huge scale and there were no problems. Our room ,407,was very comfortable and warm ( on a snowy night in February ) with lovely views of the vale and the side of the Abbey. Dinner was served starting at 6pm which was great to fit in with the theatre performance and even on a cold snowy night the Theatre was only a five minute walk away. All our requests were met without question, including reserving a window table for dinner. We will stay again.
