We stayed on a mid-week break of two nights on an exceptional deal. My husband picked this hotel based the comments he had read regarding the restaurant! We were not disappointed! The food is exceptional! With a good variety and reasonable prices. The wine list is varied and good value.

The hotel is very old! The walls are thin and you can easily distinguish conversations out in the hall and as our room was above reception we could hear those too.

I have seen pictures of rooms on trip advisor, there must be different styles of room ours was very different to these, very compact with antique furniture. We also had several large cobwebs hanging from the ceiling.

Our room was of average standard, however the food was excellent and makes this a very worthwhile hotel to visit. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Spent New Year in the hotel with my wife and mother-in-law. The food, as others have commented, was excellent. We enjoyed the New Year's eve dinner, and a second evening dining a la carte. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us. Our double room on the second floor was spacious and comfortable. The single room on the first floor was a little on the small side. Overall an excellent and enjoyable stay and we will certainly go back.

Spent Christmas at the hotel, having previously visited in 2009. The standard of the food remains top class, and the staff most off whom are long-termers are still as warm and friendly as ever. The facilities in the lounges and the bar are also very good. I thoroughly recommend it for a relaxing break, and suggest walking on the hills to offset the calories.
