This hotel has no management and owners who aren't interested. I will be very surprised if they are still in business in 6 months.
Unfortunately this disasterous stay also had the double negative of ruining New Year 2012 as we were meant to be staying for the whole New Year weekend but left after one night. I am still trying to get the money back for the second night.
The problems were as follows:
1. Initially no light in bathroom, bodged repair by Brian who stood on our bedroom chair with his shoes on and left it dangling by a wire.
2. One towel was provided in a double room. New towels were issued when requested that were damp!
3. An hour before the "gala dinner" when wanting a shower, there was no hot water. The feigned surprise didn't really wash as apparently this is a regular occurence.
4. We were asked to book a table for 7.15 for the gala dinner which was earlier than we wanted. Due to the hot water problems we arrived late (around 7.30pm) but weren't invited to sit down to dinner until 9.00pm
5. Bizarrely there was a second sitting on New Year's Eve, which meant some people were asked to leave the dining room before they had finished their meal. Other diners refused the leave the dining room until they had been promised a refund for their meal.
6. The so-called entertainment I didn't even see, but heard from others it was a joke.
7. Generally the staff were admitting to all guests that the whole evening was a complete and utter shambles, and even started making fun of the hotel and the owners. They were openly saying the whole place was a joke and complaining about their wages in front of guests.
8. Next morning at breakfast it didn't get any better. We came down and had to walk through broken glass from the night before. As for the meal itself: I have never seen bake beans been killed before.
We had to leave despite the fact that there was no-one around who could authorise the credit card refund. I will be taking this up with the credit card company. The staff seemed to agree that we didn't have any other option and weren't really interested anyway!
