I read the reviews after I had booked through late rooms and was apprehensive. We booked dinner bed and breakfast deal for £89 on boxing day for 1 night.

Mary is an elderly lady who worked hard and ensured we had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The evening meal was really good, service was great and the room was comfortable. I think sometimes people expect the moon on a stick for a penny. We had a thoroughly relaxing pleasant break and I would recommend this hotel. We were well looked after.

After seeing so many negative comments I was not looking forward to the event. I am delighted to say a marvellous time was had by all. Champagne, food, wines and service all excellent. Disco was great catering to all ages from 4 to 74! Penthouse suite a must for such occasions.

this hotel ia a total nightmare had booked two rooms for my husband and i and my daughter and boyfriend when we arrived had no knowledge of booking evetually my husband and i were taken to the so called penthouse suite it was cold and filthy mould on matress paint flaking of walls my daughters room was even colder no heating no hot water .That evening there was a wedding reception very noisy doors slamming all night long. in morning we were told we would have to move room as this so called penthouse was double booked when they where told my daughter had no hot water and heating was told the chef/maintainence men could smell diesel and the problem should be sorted the next room we eventually moved to was even worse small cramped and also filthy no towels no milk and just as noisy second night breakfast was even worse all cups on table dirty hair in food and myself still being sick from breafast only payed half the bill after a row with claire so called owner nasty woman was told the penthouse suite was £200 a night must be havin a laugh please do not go there it was a total nightmare from start to finish

just returned from a short stay and would like to say how festive, warm and welcoming the hotel is. Staff very friendly and helpful with local knowledge to help you get the most from the area. The hotel's trump card is the wonderful setting - grounds sloping down to river and views of open countryside. Would be great for hobby groups - artists, photographers etc. Very peaceful. In fact a local couple were staying for a night's respite away from hectic family life. We had very good evening meal/breakfast. Comfy bed. Can't wait to return.
