We only stayed a night at Alma House, but it was perfect. The room was well designed and everything clean, modern and of good quality. As it was -4 degrees that weekend, we were very warm and cosy in our room. It is very near to town and as a bonus, has parking too.
I am absolutely delighted to recommend Alma House as a lovely and welcoming place to stay in Windsor.

Room Tip: We were in room 3 in the basement, but we had our own entrance and were quite happy. We were not di...

“Everything you could need.....”

I stay at Alma House on a regular basis as I need a base when working in Slough. The Alma House is modern, clean & tastefully decorated. Everything you could need is pretty much provided and towels, toiletries etc are lovely quality. What really makes my stay though is the helpfulness and friendliness of all who work at Alma House. Nothing is too much trouble and any issues are sorted quickly and efficiently. I like the idea of having my breakfast in my room - it may not appeal to everyone, but given that I'm there to work, it's ideal. The Alma House is in a good location for the town centre and railway station - just 10 mins walk, yet it's in a quiet residential area all the same. Being Windsor, you may occasionally wish you had ear plugs for the flight path disturbance, but it's only from time to time I've found it noisy. All in all, a little gem.

“A Great Stay in Windsor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Alma House is a lovely B&B in the heart of Windsor 5 minutes walk from the town centre. It's a lovely Victorian building and we had a great stay there for 2 nights. Very reasonably priced.

“Excellent rooms, facilities and location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We had a very pleasant stay at Alma House. Our room was very clean and well equipped, the staff were always extremely friendly and offered great local knowledge.

Located near to all popular tourist attractions it's a perfect place to stay when you're in that neck of the woods.

Very highly recommended, we would definitely stay here again!

“Beware!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We stayed at the Alma House over the weekend of 5/6th November 2011. We chose this as we were visiting two sets of relatives who lived close by and did not have the room to put us up.

The room was quite nicely appointed but a bit cramped, their was not much room between the edge of the double bed and the entrance to the bathroom - we constantly banged our shins on the corner of the bed which was quite painful. The shower had seen better days it was not very powerful and the base of the shower a bit grim. The basin tap constantly dripped and the fan did not work.

It was nice to have our breakfast in the room - but we had to ask for orange juice and milk and also when we booked we were told we would have a bottle of wine and chocolates which only appeared when we again asked for them. One plus was that they supplied a special diet for us.

Our beware title is DO NOT GIVE A CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO THIS PROPERTY! After our stay here we then went on to Las Vegas for a break. On our return there was an e-mail awaiting for us. The Management accused us of smoking in the room, which was totally untrue - (we had gone to two large bonfire parties over the weekend and of course some of our outer clothes were a bit smelly). The Management requested £150 to re-decorate the bathroom and clean the carpet! As we were away and had not replied to them, they took the money from our credit card without our permission, which was given to them to secure the booking only, as we had paid by cheque on arrival. As we were told by e-mail what they where going to do we had no choice but to let the payment go through. So I repeat do not give a CREDIT CARD number to the management of this property as they will take what they deem fit - regardless!

Dear Richard

Thank you for your review and the positive comments. We have tackled the dripping tap and the bathroom fan did work it was just switched off at the pull cord. Apologies for any inconvenience this caused you.

I am sorry that you feel disappointed in the charges we made for smoking in / smoke damage to our room. Our booking policy clearly states that damages including smoking will be chargable to the credit card supplied at the time of booking. We too were disappointed that we could not let the room immediately after your stay due to the smoke smell - the only way to get rid of this was to redecorate the room. We did not charge you for the loss of business when we were unable to re-let the room until the paint had dried and the paint smell had faded.

I hope you appreciate our predicament and that we were only following our booking policy - something that is standard in most hotels and B&Bs all over the world.

As is shown from the number of positive reviews that we get, we are reasonably priced, offer clean and comfortable rooms that compare favourably with local hotels and we are not unreasonable people.

We hope to be able to welcome you again in the future if you need accommodation in Windsor.

Best regards,
Nigel & Georgia
