“Some people!”

I am not the type of person who has time to write reviews, but after reading one review about this property, titled "False advertising" I feel obligated to say something.

This sort of review must be very upsetting to the lovely people that run the place. I have now become a regular at this establishment and was staying there when the swimming pool was empty. This was due to the fact that it was been refurbished and had new tiles fitted. This can only be a good thing in my opinion and I don't understand the comment from chetwyn101. What did you expect them to do, build a separate swimming pool, while they were refurbishing the old one? That is something only a "cleaning lady" could come up with. And dust in the room? Well I know they are refurbishing some rooms also, so that could have been the cause, but I have never had a problem, my room has always been spotless.

At the end of the day some people can never be pleased, to me it sounds like they wanted a discount or never got one, hence the comment she left. I can tell you, that you can disregard chetwyn101's comment, as it is incorrect, just like her spelling "customes".

“Huge Rooms; Huge Baths; I'll be back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

Set well back from the busy A-4, the hotel provides accommodation that actually is very quiet (especially at the back, where you may occasionally hear trains, but they're hardly noticeable). The rooms are large and the bathrooms are truly spaceous. The owner is extremely accommodating and helpful, providing insight on local restaurants or anything else you might need. The breakfast was fine (with good, strong coffee!). Convenient for walks along the Thames path and for drives to nearby Henley, Windsor, etc. My only suggestion would be for a change to unscented laundry detergent; the towels were extremely perfumy.

“False advertising!!”

Working for one of the largest professional domestic cleaning franchise organisation in the uk, the first thing we notice when we enter a hotel/ B & B is how clean is the room. The room we were put in was very dusty and dirty. We spoke to a member of staff to complain and the room was cleaned, however it was not cleaned enough. We have also had problems with the sound on the tv.
The staff are very friendly, helpful and the breakfasts are lovely.
We decided to take our swimming customes to use the swimming pool which is mentioned on the website, however it is empty!!!!!

“Really lovely Family Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

I stayed at Norfolk House for three nights in June and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It is a small Hotel located close to Maidenhead and Slough. I was on a budget and wanted somewhere quiet; this fitted the bill! I have stayed in the Travel Lodges and Premier Inns before and they are all the same! Nobody cares about personal service and the Rooms are very depressing. Norfolk House has very charming Rooms with beautiful views; they are not 5 star but are very clean and have all the necessities. My Room was overlooking the Swimming Pool and Gardens and I had such a wonderful sleep! The Breakfast was served in the Dining Room, but I asked the lady if I could sit on the Terrace as the weather was lovely - she was very obliging and made me feel like a King! it's not often you can relax by the Pool in the morning before a stressful meeting!

I would highy recommend this Hotel for the average business traveller. It has everything that you require, free car parking, free Wireless Internet, a small Residents Bar, Bar Snacks, Freshly cooked Full English Breakfast (which is delicious by the way), Terrace and Pool area! It was such a refreshing change to stay in a Hotel where the staff remember your name and are happy to help with any little problems. I didn't feel like going out for dinner on a particular evening, so the girl on Reception suggested I order a Take Away for delivery. She recommended a local Indian Restaurant. When it arrived she had all my cutlery etc ready and I sat in the Bar with a glass of Wine enjoying my food. Perfect!! She also advised that if I stay again I would be able to avail of a Room with a Fridge and Microwave.

I must say that I have no real complaints about Norfolk House. It's what you can expect from a small hotel: clean Bedrooms, fresh, tasty Breakfast and friendly staff. I will be returning at the end of July and I'm very much looking forward to it. I have already requested a Large Double Room which I saw on my last visit and Reception have honoured this (unlike other Hotels where your requests are generally ignored!) I think I have found a little home from home for my monthly Business Trips. It's so nice to feel welcome in an establishment, :especially when you are a solo traveller.

Room Tip: Ask for a Room overlooking the Gardens and Pool!

“Homely accomodation and warm service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2011

I found this hotel on the internet and it appeared to be a tranquil and friendly setting. We arrived, pulling onto the gravel driveway and it appeared to be a traditional family run establishment. The owner, Joe, greeted us at reception and provided lots of information for the local area. The rooms are clean, comfortable and have the appearance of a private bedroom, rather than the bland rooms at some big chains. We wondered down to the spacious bar / restaurant area and had a couple of drinks, which were a little pricey, before heading out. In the morning, a full English breakfast was part of a good morning spread, before a quick check out. I would definitely stay in this hotel again if in the area, as although not the cheapest it is certainly relaxing and warm
