I stayed at Norfolk House for three nights in June and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It is a small Hotel located close to Maidenhead and Slough. I was on a budget and wanted somewhere quiet; this fitted the bill! I have stayed in the Travel Lodges and Premier Inns before and they are all the same! Nobody cares about personal service and the Rooms are very depressing. Norfolk House has very charming Rooms with beautiful views; they are not 5 star but are very clean and have all the necessities. My Room was overlooking the Swimming Pool and Gardens and I had such a wonderful sleep! The Breakfast was served in the Dining Room, but I asked the lady if I could sit on the Terrace as the weather was lovely - she was very obliging and made me feel like a King! it's not often you can relax by the Pool in the morning before a stressful meeting!
I would highy recommend this Hotel for the average business traveller. It has everything that you require, free car parking, free Wireless Internet, a small Residents Bar, Bar Snacks, Freshly cooked Full English Breakfast (which is delicious by the way), Terrace and Pool area! It was such a refreshing change to stay in a Hotel where the staff remember your name and are happy to help with any little problems. I didn't feel like going out for dinner on a particular evening, so the girl on Reception suggested I order a Take Away for delivery. She recommended a local Indian Restaurant. When it arrived she had all my cutlery etc ready and I sat in the Bar with a glass of Wine enjoying my food. Perfect!! She also advised that if I stay again I would be able to avail of a Room with a Fridge and Microwave.
I must say that I have no real complaints about Norfolk House. It's what you can expect from a small hotel: clean Bedrooms, fresh, tasty Breakfast and friendly staff. I will be returning at the end of July and I'm very much looking forward to it. I have already requested a Large Double Room which I saw on my last visit and Reception have honoured this (unlike other Hotels where your requests are generally ignored!) I think I have found a little home from home for my monthly Business Trips. It's so nice to feel welcome in an establishment, :especially when you are a solo traveller.
Room Tip: Ask for a Room overlooking the Gardens and Pool!
