“Excellent Hotel”

Stayed here as a convenient location for a family funeral. Were greeted on arrival in a very friendly way, and given instructions to an overflow carpark - which in the event we did not need!
Check in was efficient and quick and our room was very satisfactory. Very clean - plenty large enough for the two of us and a lovely view over the river and bridge. The bathroom was spotless and totally adequate with a lovely shower. We went down to the restaurant wanting just a light snack and were made very welcome and served as little as we wanted by friendly courteous staff. I had wondered if the proximity to Heathrow might be a problem but slept like babies!! Breakfast was fast and plentiful and again served by lovely young people who were anxious to please. The hotel is in a lovely location and perhaps we can visit again for a relaxing break. Thank you!

Room Tip: River views are lovely

“Must be lovely in summer”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

The positives are important and shouldn't be ignored. In particular the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was well priced and excellent.
Unfortunately the single room I was allocated in the main building was far too small to be close to comfortable. The only place to unpack the case was on the bed. The bathroom was also on the small side and could not be used with the door open. Draughty sash windows on a cold night could have been better too and forget any chance of a quiet lie-in as the car park is between the main hotel and the lodge annexe and I can vouch for the fact that deliveries and waste collection start early.
At £79 room only I wouldn't consider my experience to be good value.
The riverside location would be superb in summer though and I would stop by again for lunch but not to stay and I overnight in the area at least 2 or 3 times a month.
The restaurant was packed and obviously very popular possibly due to the early bird offer so make sure you book a table. The menu was varied and typical of many places locally but again I took away memories of the friendly staff.

Room Tip: Avoid the single rooms in the main building

“Should be a 4 star!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I stayed here for 1 night as a night away for just me and my boyfriend. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady on reception who was really friendly and welcoming. We were sent to our room which was in their main building. The room was lovely! very large room with flat-screen TV, sofa, coffee table, workdesk, very comfy large bed. The bathroom was very modern and fresh. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and very well kept.
We had views of the river which was very tranqil and relaxing.
Breakfast was delicious! there was alot of choice for the continental muffins, croissants, fruit, cereal, toast etc. we also had a full english with poached egg and the poached egg was cooked perfectly! It had snowed overnight and we was debating whether to stay an extra night or attempt to drive home. The same lady that checked us in offered to let us stay until 2pm free of charge which was so nice of her. We ended up attempting out journey but I really appreciate that offer :)
I would definately stay here again

Room Tip: Rooms with river views and beautfiul! and well worth the tiny charge

“Ok venue but nothing to shout about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Stayed here for a quick night whilst on business, the bar was rammed (think the locals use it). Although it looks very pretty from the front; Thames riverside setting and well featured main building, there is a massive annex slightly out of view where you will probably be housed (as I was).

The rooms are well kept and clean, in addition the staff were friendly. Its about a 20 minute walk from maidenhead town center. In terms of prices for Maidenhead, it was relatively well priced, but now they have opened up a Travel Lodge in Maidenhead it may have leveled the market somewhat, as I felt many of the hotels in this area were charging Zone 1/2 prices for location and accommodation which wasn't really value for money.

Room Tip: Avoid the annex if you want original features, albeit the rooms were fine here

“Above Average Charm in Maidenhead”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

I'd actually give this place a 3.5 stars if Tripadvisor allowed it. 4 is a bit high and 3 a tad low.

Here's what's good about it:
Old school English charm. I personally loved the feel of the building. Maidenhead appears to more of a business center now and this hotel has some new school amenities within its slightly older architecture.

My room, and the ones I saw of my traveling companions, were all well-appointed with tea service, a couch/settee, iron/ironing board (I was there for business and this was only the 2nd hotel of 6 I visited across Europe where the room was ready with iron...) Good TV, reasonable bed, and lovely people working the front desk.

The price was pretty good too (although I confess I was traveling for business and didn't pore over my bill like I may have if it was my dime...).

The breakfast was OK, though not included in the price of the room. The typical English fry-up was average.

I'd stay here again on my next trip because there was a comfortable familiarity to the hotel. And it felt typically English. If I'm not able to do "English" sightseeing on a business trip, then I want something to remind me of the country I'm in!

A few side notes:
- We arrived a bit late and ran to the downstairs bar for a quick bite and beer, and the staff couldn't have been more annoyed. My suggestion for them next time: just say "no - we're not serving" as opposed to serving with an attitude.
- I could hear the people in the room above me walking around. This I didn't mind so much since I was dead tired and only in the hotel for one night. However, if this is a deal breaker, ask for a room on the top floor. I also hear there are villas or cottages, though I didn't see those rooms...

Room Tip: There are no elevators so if you have a big bag and no one to help you with it, ask for a room on fl...

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review in regards to your recent stay with us. I was interested to read your comments in regards to your warm welcome from my reception team and that we failed to communicate in a guest focussed manner in the bar, to which I have discussed with my team at some lenghs.

In regards to your feedback to rooms we offer two options either in the main hotel building or Waterside lodge and are always happt to assist our guests in selecting the best room type and loction for there needs as far as we can.

I thank you again for your feedback and hope to see you bach at The Thames Riviera Hotel when you are next staying in the area.
