We chose Sarum Heights on the recommendations of previous fabulous reviews. We were not disappointed and agree what a PERFECT choice this is.
We were welcomed into a lovely cosy family home and shown to our well appointed, stylish, light and airy room at the front of the house. The view of Old Sarum, from the elevated position is stunning, especially at sunset. The room is immaculately clean throughout, with a well stocked and regularly replenished tea/coffee tray. The en-suite shower room had a powerful shower, white fluffy towels aplenty and even a lovely basket of complimentary shower products. On the landing there is a library of books, games, dvds and a hairdryer for guest use. We loved that we could park our car off-road. This meant we could walk into Salisbury (or catch the bus outside) and not worry about parking or charges etc. Sue told us of a lovely walk along the river and into the town centre. Evening meals are a short stroll up the hill to a Harvester pub selling good food at reasonable prices. Talking of food - everyone mentions the breakfasts. Excellent choices of breakfasts, from yoghurts and cereals to freshly cooked traditional English (with eggs from the lovely hens residing at the top of the garden). We are usually quiet, but found ourselves chatting away with Sue and Charlie as if they were old friends, a testament to their charm and warmth as hosts. Sue found out contact numbers for us, was helpful in planning our visits to surrounding places of interest, ie the medievel city itself with cathedral, Old Sarum, Stonehenge and Woodhenge, the Great Bustard breeding programme and so on. This is a lovely area of countryside to visit, which we thoroughly enjoyed but what we will also take away with us, is a happy memory of the time spent in Sarum Heights and the enjoyment of making new friends. Thankyou Charlie and Sue, and of course, the chickens!
