“Wonderful Location, Great Breakfast But In Need of TLC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

Firstly the positives - the location is very picturesque, quiet and offers a beautiful 10 minute walk directly into Salisbury. Equally the daily breakfast was outstanding with lovely menu to select from as well as a buffet of cereals, fruit and juice: everything we had was delicious and the breakfast staff were very pleasant. The downside - the rooms. They were certainly functional but screws were missing from handles, paintwork badly scratched or patched with another color, different from the original, and just a general feeling of being worn, tired and a little dysfunctional as if the owners had run out of energy finishing their renovations. It was the small detail that let down the Old Mill - it could be outstanding. Note that the stairs are quite narrow and steep so small bags not huge suitcases advisable!

“A peaceful place to stay in Salisbury”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

The Old Mill is set in a wonderful location with the relaxing sound of running water and ducks quacking. It is only a short walk(10 minutes) in to town down Town Path.
When you first see the building you are struck by its charm. Venturing inside you have a lively local pub, an appealing restaurant and good sizeen-suite bed rooms.
Both bar and restaurant food is very good.
The bedrooms are faded but comfortable and efforts are being made to redecorate.
We were not put off by the need to update rooms although this would be desirable.

Having stayed there many times over the last 20 years, we can find no reason not to go back to this peaceful place and the delightful city of Salisbury.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room looking over the river at the front nof the mill. Stairs in this old buil...

“Disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We were "upgraded" to a superior room as there was a housekeeping problem with the standard room booked. I dread to think of the state of the standard room. Dirty and mouldy bathroom with dripping shower, non flushing loo and basin plug that didn't plug.
Tired decor and furniture throughout. Even the cardboard levelling the wardrobe didn't prevent the doors falling open.
General feeling that there was a lack of care for the room and so the customer.
Meals very average as well.
Stay 1night 27th November 2011

Room Tip: Chack if the room is one shown on the website. Otherwise beware.

“It makes Fawlty Towers look 5*”

We booked for two nights. The room was dirty and full of cobwebs, towels in the bath from previous occupants, and it all definitely needed a lick of paint. In the morning, the people in the room above had a shower and the water came dripping down into out room (including dripping down the light fittings). We told the management but they didn't seem bothered.

We booked three weeks in advance, including booking a meal in the restaurant - when we went for our meal, the waitress was extremely rude when we asked if we could move table, to avoid sitting in the middle of the room, under a main spotlight. The management again didn't care (althought hey did knock a huge £4.50 off our total bill!), and I had to endure verbal abuse from the waitress when speaking to the manager.

We decided to leave early.

Please don't even think about staying here!
