“Nice room, poor breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We booked an executive room for a Saturday night away.

The hotel is welcoming and friendly, and we found the room was comfortable and clean. Free wi-fi works well. The bed was nice and firm. Complementary bathrobes were not discovered in the wardrobe until we were checking around when leaving. Why not put them in the bathroom like other hotels?

Breakfast was pretty disastrous. The buffet was empty of everything except beans, black pudding and fried bread. The orange juice had run out, as had the tomato ketchup. No doubt we could have asked or complained - but these things are as obvious to the staff as they are to the diners, so why not just fix them? OK, it was 9.40am, but we were told breakfast was served until 10am, and that should mean a proper breakfast, not whatever bits and pieces are left over.

When we got back to our room, it was just after 10am, and the "smart" key no longer worked the door. I returned to reception, where my key was reprogrammed. Apparently the system is supposed to lock everyone out at 11am - check-out time - but since the clocks went back (3 months ago) it is happening at 10am and they haven't figured it out yet. On the way back to the room I was able to inform other guests who were also struggling with their locks of the rather silly situation.

On the plus side, if you're staying from March 25th onwards, and don't mind being locked out if you happen to be still lingering at 11am, this situation will be happily resolved by the arrival of daylight saving time.

I was disappointed to read your comments about breakfast, I whole heartedly agree staff should have seen the dishes needed replenishing, as guests should experience the same quality of breakfast whether eating at the start of service or the end. We have taken steps to try ensure this is the case in future.

We do not get many complaints about our offering but apologies that on this occasion that we failed to meet your expectations. With reference to your key no longer working in the door, This was in fact a glitch with the computer software on the day and not a problem with the bi-annual time clock change, many thanks for bringing this to our attention, which enabled us to remedy the problem on the day.

We do hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you again and that you will give us the opportunity to show you that Breakfast at Milford Hall Hotel is usually a pleasurable experience.

On a final note we do thank you for taking the time to review Milford Hall Hotel on Tripadvisor. I am pleased that you found the hotel welcoming and friendly and that your room was comfortable.

Kind Regards

“Excellent place to stay”

I stayed at this hotel in Dec 11 for 5 nights whilst on a course. I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were really friendly and always cheerfull. The rooms are very comfortable, and there is good internet wifi connection (which is free).
Tea/Coffee facilities and the shampoo/shower gel etc facilities are refreshed daily, I only mention this point because most other hotels I have stayed at didn't change the bathroom facilities.
The walk to Salisbury centre is only 5 mins where there is a host of restaurants, bars and shops.

I have no negative points for this hotel.
If you are trying to decide where to stay look no further than this hotel.

“Fantastic comfort - should be at least 4 star”

Everybody gave 100% to make us comfortable.
The room was immaculate and spacious.
Food (breakfasts and one dinner} were excellent. Service seemed a bit handicapped by the kitchen being unable to cope with bunching of diners.
Best short break hotel we have visited
