“Stonehenge Stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2010

Hotel choice was made by relatives. This is like the Holiday Inn or Embassy Suites you have in the US. The rooms were basic but inexpensive, clean and quiet and breakfast was offered as part of the rate quote. You can also book with no breakfast but the location is a bit out of the way so ... for an extra $7-$10 why not. Location was great to move the next morning to visit Stone Henge and thereafter a trip to Bath. I would recommend.

“Quiet & pleasant hostel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2010

I stayed for one night and was lucky to get the only single room. It was very small but did include a washbasin. My room was really quiet and I had a great night’s sleep. I didn't use the self catering kitchen or the restaurant. The hostel is comfortable but a bit tatty in places. It is less than a 10min walk from the city centre. I enjoyed exploring Salisbury. The cathedral is well worth a visit.

“friendly but quirky”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

I spent one night at this hostel and found it to be average. The male staff member that I dealt with was friendly, even offering to make me a bagged breakfast when I said that I had to leave early the next morning. He was very patient when dealing with an upset guest who didn't have strong english skills.

The building is lovely from the outside, but a bit rundown on the inside. The lounge/common room area was a bit cold and dark. Downstairs in the basement it seems that there used to be another common area, but the furniture was broken and there was trash everywhere.

My room was clean and quiet but a bit shabby. Nothing that would bother the 'average' backpacker, but if you haven't hosteled before it might surprise you. The showers and toilets were ok - showers in separate tiny rooms and toilets with sinks in another. The hostel was not busy when I was there, but it was the off-season (late September).

The kitchen seemed alright (but a tad shabby), and there was plenty of tables in the eating area.

There was a computer that you could purchase time on the internet, but no wireless.

My bagged breakfast was yummy!

“Friendly staff made the stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

I stayed for one night in a single room as I had a friend's wedding that day.
The staff at reception were extremely friendly and helpful. I checked in with no problems and left my things in my room. The room, although rather small, was very suitable. It had a sink (great for some water when I got back late at night), mirror and a very comfortable bed. I slept with no problems.
The breakfast was fine, and included, which was even better as I don't know Salisbury very well and was extremely hungry in the morning!
Other people have stated the the outward apparel of the hostel was not that nice, but I completely disagree. I saw no faults. It was all very welcoming.
Overall experience was very good. The staff were friendly. The accommodation was clean. I have stayed at two YHAs previously, one was perfect and the other was dire (neither are in the UK). If I needed to, I would definitely stay here again.
