“My first (and second) Stonehenge experience”
I've actually been a guest in this hostel twice. Two years ago, as a first-time England "visitor" (I used to work as a baby-sitter), one of the destinations that poped in my head was, not at all out of the ordinary, Stonehenge. So I've checked and I've booked on the internet and I fell in love with the place instantly, that is, the moment I finally managed to find it at the top of the charming Milford Hill. A short walk from the train, coach station and not far away from the city's famous Cathedral, the hostel is a quiet, peaceful, a little bit quirky oasis, surrounded by trees, hidden from the view. The rooms are small but clean and quiet, the shower rooms are tiny but you can still have a decent shower, the bar and the old-fashioned lounge are nice, and the internet acces, expensive. What I liked the best, both times I eat there (because I re-visited it in March next year, too) was the breakfast, included in the price of the room. Huge, good-old English breakfast, with all the main ingredients like sausages, beans, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, bacon, but you can also think of porridge, cheese, ham, fresh juice, milk, honey, jam, fruit, tea and coffee. That was really a filling breakfast, most needed after the Stonehenge experience. The staff, as far as I can remember was nice and friendly, but I found the general atmosphere a little bit odd, a little "frozen", if I may put it this way. People don't really talk, don't really interract with each other, but I suppose is part of the hostel's charm and I really loved (both times) to drink my mug of tea outside in the garden, enjoying the beautiful view, closely observed by the hostel's cat, the real owner of the place, obviously. :)
