We've just spend a lovely weekend at the New Inn. The accommodation is basic but clean. I don't understand previous comments about staff being unfriendly at all - they were the complete opposite in our opinion. Food was very good including the breakfast - didn't need to eat lunch! We enjoyed chatting to the locals in the bar who were all very friendly and welcoming.

Oh dear. Now I'm not one to moan but.....I didn't expect luxury. What I did expect was a clean, warm, comfortable place to stay for 2 nights. What I got was quite the opposite - having booked a double room for sole occupancy I was shown to a twin room - this however was easily remedied when I pointed out the error. My double room had a stunning outlook. However the furniture was extremley tired and careworn. The room itself was not to a clean standard - there were even a dead moth residing in the bathroom. There was no heating for the 2 nights I was there, so I was literally freezing cold in my bed. Fortunately I was out till late! On the plus side the breakfast was hearty, the bed very comfotable and the view from my window of the sunrise pretty much unsurpassable.

Very unfriendly. Poor service. Cold, undercooked food.

I have real mixed feelings about the New Inn. On the one had it's in a pretty location, has a lovely garden in the back, the inside is quaint and full of character, but on the other, the accommodation was decidely rickety and somewhat shabby. Service, while not unfriendly, was indifferent. Beers were great though.
