When we were shown to the rooms across from the main pub and on entering the front door, we're informed that the door stayed open all night! We were immediately faced with several pairs of filthy boots and a knee strap at the bottom of the stair. On entering our room we both noticed a number of very listless flies, throughout the room and more around the window. I pointed this out and was told, 'they've come in from the field because of the time of year'?! I further checked over the room and found the lamp shade full of dirt, dust and dead flies. The toilet had been 'used' and left. There was half used shower gel and shampoo in the shower, not sure if this had been left or was what they were offering?

Likey we called and found another b&b and left. We called and to let them know that we weren't happy with the room, that we had left the key in the door. All we received was a 'fine' and they hung up on us.

“Not a friendly place and dirty.”

It was Haloween weekend but no excuse for the HORROR we encountered!!!

On entering our room there were flies gathered on the window like Amityville horror maybe because the loo had not been flushed from the last occupant (YUK!). The beds were uncomfortable and a plastic protector sheet made them worse. The room was dirty and dank and the furnishings broken. There were hidden charges for a HOT breakfast, only cerial & toast came with the B&B. We managed one night here and would not advise you to go through the experience. We found the host rather surley and unable to deal with customers very well.

Frosty welcome & colder room. Charity shop reject furniture & complimentary toiletries were stuff other guests had left behind. Evening meal in the bar OK, but breakfast service was surly & I still wonder how it is possible to make a poached egg on toast taste that bad

Spent a couple of nights here and we seriously considered leaving after 1. The room was dirty, cold and damp and smelled of urine, the bathroom needed a good clean & repair - with the shower only offering a trickle of water. The noise of the bathroom being used in the room above woke us in the night. Didn't see much of the staff except on check in and out and breakfast was extremely disappointing.

“They let us down ... BIG Style !!”

Booked ( & confirmed ) their TWO twin rooms over 6 month in advance, as we were doing a 20 mile charity walk in the area ( http://www.aveburyrocks.com/ ) and thought it would not be safe to drive home afterwards. We had booked two nights, the Sunday was going to be spent recovering, drinking & eating at their pub all day.

Two days before the event, got second confirmation that they had reserved us ONE twin room ! I phoned them and asked what was happening - they realised they had cocked up ( but no apologies from them ) and they decided to put us in family room - 1 double & 1 twin - got there on the night to find it was 1 double & 1 single ( for 3 blokes - I don't think so ! ) and they said there had been another problem with our booking, but we got ABSOLUTELY NO APOLOGIES from them !!!!

So we had no option but to drive 75 miles home feeling very tired after the walk. Their mess made them loose about £400 over the two days !

So if you are planning on going - book, confirm, confirm, confirm and just for good measures, I would recommend confirming again !!!!
