Andrew is an excellent host - very friendly, knows his village and its stones well. Our family of five stayed two nights, using Avebury as a base for exploring nearby Bath and Stonehenge as well as enjoying our private time with the stones of Avebury in the evenings. We had two rooms, and they were great - perfect views out over the stones, nicely appointed, and not at all like a standard hotel room. It was more like staying as a guest in someone's house - our kids had the larger room with one single and one double and an ensuite bathroom, my wife and I had a double room with the bathroom (just for us) just down the hall a bit. Nice bathrooms, clean, lots of hot water. The breakfast was great - vegetarian all the way, and cooked to order. The breakfast room had lots of cool antiques (my wife broke a small Staffordshire ceramic dog by accident - we had fun in the antique stores of Bath finding a replacement for Andrew - it was actually quite easy, and not expensive thankfully!). We were somewhat intrigued with a painting of a British man wearing a turban - Andrew explained a bit about the eccentric Sir Francis Dashwood, and recommended we visit the "Hellfire Caves" on our way into London. We actually didn't that year, but returned to England the following year and spent some time there. Thanks for the tip Andrew! The Lodge is a great stay - a little more than we would normally pay, but not outrageous, and certainly staying within the Avebury Henge, with a great host like Andrew, in a historic house like the Lodge is worth the price! I'll be back in Avebury again this year, but not staying the night unfortunately - otherwise, I would be staying at the Lodge.
Room Tip: I think there are just the two rooms, both are excellent with great views out to the stones.
