“A rubbish dump is cleaner.”

Having paid £48.00 on arrival, I can understand why they take payment up front. No-one in there right minds would pay for a room once seen. As we arrived around 6pm and was meeting friends at 7pm we had no other choice than to stay there. The Toilet had someone elses unflush tissue in the bowl and also there body hair (public) on the rim. The sink tap had black gunge hanging out of it and the shower and tiles where full of black slime. There wasn't anyway anyone could take a shower in it. The Kettle had old water in it.
We came back to our basement room(with very steep and narrow stairs) after meeting with friends, to be kept awake all night with heavy footsteps and movement of furniture above us, this continued throughout the night At 7am we still could not sleep. At around 8am when almost nodding off the noise continued. The fire alarm was then set off when something in the kitchen burn't. After seeing the state of the cleanliness of the room we thought it best not to eat in the Hotel. The reason we book this hotel was because of the location , that was the only good thing about it. This so called Hotel needs a visit from Aggie(how clean is your house programme) and fumigating.

“better off sleeping in the car”

stayed the one night for the cricket with my wife. i stay away for business one or two nights a week so im used to occasionally having to put up with the odd one that isnt up to standards but this place was something different. we were in a basement room where the carpet looked like it had just been retrieved from the dump. the bed was that dirty looking we actually put our towels over our pillows and slept in our clothes. i would have prefered to sleep in the car .

“Grotty hotel - avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

Stayed at this hotel as we travelled to Leeds for my sons graduation. If I'd booked a second night I think I would've had to find another hotel.
Friendly staff yes but the rooms and hotel are grotty.
We were given a basement room - it was dirty, noisy and thoroughly unpleasant.
Tiny shower cublicle - you couldn't move and I'm a size 8!!
An absolute rip-off for £54.00.
My son stayed in the Ascot - apparently 'far more superior' - err no - a bit cleaner but dark and dreary with a rubbish shower.
Breakfast was OK although I found out later that my daughters was served with extra hairs....not hers!!
I know it's advertised as a budget hotel but this fails even to meet the criteria for 'budget'.
GROTTY!!

“Ideally Located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

Just spent one night at this hotel, its well situated for the rugby/cricket grounds. Stayed in a double en suite that had a period feel to it, very clean with TV and tea and coffee, off the road parking to the rear. Close by are several pubs and eating establihments all within 5 - 10 minutes walking distance. Service at the hotel was good and friendly had a good laugh with Bezza (Mark) I said I would write something nice about him, but couldn't think of anything " Only Joking mate" would definately stay here again most enjoyable short stay that made up for a dissapointing match result

Cheers Lyndon and Doreen
