“Overall the place was awful!”

Well me and my girlfriend stayed here and the whole experience was appaling. We paid extra for the deluxe plus room and we didnt get half of the things we were meant to.. inlcuding no fluffy slippers, on demand movies, bottle of wine consisted of 1 187ml bottle and the fruit bowl was actually a saucer with 1 orange and 1 apple.

You have to pay extra so it was very misleading on the paper-work. In our room there were stains all over the carpet, rusty handrails with sharp edges that my girlfriend cut her hand on . We had no tea or coffee in the room either there was the kettle but that was all.. Rooms and hallways are rather tired and could do with been up dated. There was a few mold marks around the edge of the bath..

The service we got was terrible when we rang reception to ask about the movies and they told us to go down to reception to show them the paper-work to see what they could do, the manager offered to take it higher and see if we could get a refund .. until he looked at the price we paid and took a very clever manner, he said "you think for that price ur going to get on-demand movies? i dont think so!" .. and had a smug look to his colleagues. Even though we did pay £67 it still said that these certain things were included, and they weren't! We thought we were getting a bargain but turns out we never.
The parking charge of £15 is to high in my eyes as you can park just round the corner for £10.. The car park isnt designed for larger vehicles either as the spaces and corners are quite tight.. We would never stay here again, I have stayed in better Premier Inn's! And I would certainly book a Premier Inn over this Hilton again!!
I wouldn't reccomend this to anyone. Really disappointed overall as the HILTON brand is looked at as been a higher quality which it wasnt and as previously said iv stayed in better Premierr Inn's with much more helpful staff.. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

“Excellent Highly Recommended!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Booked a standard twin room got it for bargin £56. Right outside train station so ideal location(when we found it did get lost on the way), rang ahead and was able to check in straight as soon as we arrived at 12 as room was ready. The room was very clean & modern with very comfy beds, plasma telly etc. Shower room very clean, modern fixtures & brill power shower. oh and Fab full size hair dryer which is a rare in a hotel. Could leave bags after checkout for no extra cost which was so valuable as we wanted to have a day shopping before getting train home (the man on the desk was very helpful & chatty which was nice). Reception & room cleaners were also very friendly. Would definately stay again as met all our needs

“Good location for business travel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

Stayed one night for business in a refurbished room on 6th floor
Decor was modern, although room small. Lobby areas and lifts are tired, although all clean.
Location very handy for offices and station, so this is probably the biggest advantage of the hotel.
Had a fire evacuation at 6am which was very unwelcome, particularly as it was -4deg outside, so a more sincere apology on check out would have been appreciated. Also it was pretty disorganised, so good job it was not a major incident! A midweek rate of £113 is a little steep, breakfast was varied and above average. Probably would stay again but purely due to location. Other hotels in Leeds are better value.

“Well decked out but a few problems”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Stayed in this hotel last thursday night - was extremely impressed by the size of the room - a deluxe plus I think, which has a large seated area and extra telly. Only problem was that neither phone nor tv in the bedroom worked. I called the staff who had a look, couldn't fix it , apologised and promised to move me to an alternative room immediately. They were switching me to one of their newly refurbished rooms on the 6 floor, from the 11th - 'great', I thought. Unfortunately when I entered the new room it was very, very cold - and lacked some of the little extras that had been in the original room. I turned the heating to full blast but the room never warmed up throughout the night or the following morning - so realy this is just a word of warning for future travellers! On the plus side, it's in a good location, was good value breakfast was excellent and the hotel was well kept in general - on balance, I might stay here again but only in a warmer room... if they could sort that out it would be 5 worth stars for the price.

Room Tip: Newly refurbished rooms on the 6th floor are very cold (or my one was!)

Dear Guest
Thank you for your comments on Tripadvisor, following your recent visit to the Hilton Leeds City.
Your feedback has been noted. I am sorry for the issues with your telephone and television offered to you on the 11th Floor. I am delighted to read that my team took decisive action and re-allocated you to a newly refurbished 6th Floor room. However, I am sorry for your disappointment, that you found this room was missing the benefits that you were originally offered.
I am delighted to note that you enjoyed your breakfast and our hotel`s location.
Thank you once again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

“Perfect at an excellent price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

Visited this hotel for one night for a weekend away. I knew of the hotel as I had walked past it on premiums trips to Leeds. Whilst checking online for prices, I was pleasantly surprised with the rate for a Saturday night. Managed to book for £56 (without breakfast but with full use of leisure club).

Arrived at 12pm however, room wasn't ready. We were able to leave bags with the concierge for no charge.

On checking in around 4pm, it was very busy however, all three stations were manned and we only waited around 5 minutes to check in.

The room was not on the big side however, wasn't an issue. The bed was massive and wardrobe space was adequate.

Bathroom was spacious with walk in shower (no bath).

It was clean, with no issues whatsoever.

Due to bad snowy weather, we decided to eat in the hotel as opposed to heading into town. Food was nice however, it did take up to an hour to arrive. Not so much of a problem as we were enjoying some drinks. Drinks were in line with hotel prices. Bar staff were pleasant and very friendly. I was pleased to see that a member of staff in training was being helped by an experienced member of staff in order to speed up service.

We were subject to a fire evacuation during our stay and I feel that this could have been better co-ordinared. We were advised to wait under the railway bridge (where my husband and I waited) however, other guests mingled at the front of the hotel and were not advised to head to their meeting point. The issue was dealt with swiftly and we were not waiting outside in the snow for longer than 20 minutes.

Location was excellent from the station. About a 3 to 4 min walk. City centre is around a 5 min walk from hotel.

We didn't use leisure club or have breakfast so cannot comment on these aspects.

I have read previous reviews that state the hotel is old and needs updated. I wouldn't disagree however, it did not have a negative impact our stay. For the cost of the room, we were more than happy with the hotel.
