Last minute night out decision one friday late January. Super super deal for this hotel, for the first time it was actually very reasonably comparible rates to other establishments. Turns out they are promoting fridays when it is quieter trying to fill up the place a little.
Have to admit this is the best hotel I have stayed in, supposidly 4 star, but I don't know how they score something like this. I had reason to stay at the mercure in Manchester only the week after, that too supposidly 4 star but the Marriot is streets ahead. Bed was firm but comfortable. Request for extra feather pillows was already in the room. (I had only booked this at 3pm the same day and arrived at 6.30pm) Room was spacious, large tv, large work desk, fab bathroom. I trouble really to find fault. The only couple of bit could be is that for tall people in the shower, the head is positioned a little low, I'm only just over 5'9" and probably showered more with the head attachment in hand than attached to its holder. Plus the room wasn't exactly on the lift floor you had to walk down half a dozen steps. Its an old city centre building and obviously has its charms and quirks. Wasn't a problem for me, but someone less able may have been a problem. I'm sure staff would have been available to help anyway.
Only contact with staff was check in and out, same woman behind desk both times and ultra polite, efficent etc and also extremly personable.
FANTASTIC!!!
Room Tip: if you need flat access, check with the hotel as some are down a few steps, just quirks of an old bu...
