“great hotel with a central location to leeds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

One of my only complaint so i will get it out of the way is about hotel`s lack of parking and when you do find it , its the cost £12 for 24 hours .
The check in was very speedy and we checked in a little earlier than normal with no problems with complimentary warm cookies ( the best ive tasted).
The rooms are great (room 633) and cant find a fault ,spacious and clean . showers are nice and powerful .
we found the hotel in a very good location to all the resturants and bars in leeds its also near to the train station . we did visit the sky lounge later in the evening but found it very pricey for drinks £8.95 for a cocktail (sorry thats another complaint )
The breakfast was lovely plenty of choice and fresh , it was very busy at the time we were there, but it was a sunday morning .

Would we stay again....... of course

Room Tip: a room on the canal side a little less noise from the train station .

“Wonderful present”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here in January courtesy of my brother in law. We had a stunning corner room (which I believe was a suite,) which looked out onto the canal. The room and bathroom were spacious and had everything you could possibly need including gorgeous toileteries and a hamper of yorkshire produce. Champagne in the sky bar was amazing as was the breakfast the following morning. We would definately stay here again.

“still good but maybe not quite as good !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My partner & i stay at this hotel quite regularly, firstly just after it was opened as a City Inn Hotel, then as a Mint Hotel and now Doubletree Hilton, all in 2 years !!
I just think it's not quite as good as it used to be,the rooms are still great, lovely and clean with everything you need and don't get me wrong it's still lovely but has just lost its "personal touch" a bit compared to when it was smaller and not part of the huge Hilton chain which is a shame, also on this visit i just felt the staff weren't as friendly and it took us far too long to check in,especially as we had paid in advance !
Saying that i suppose really good things can't last for ever,i would still recommend it and the next time we visit Leeds we will certainly stay there again.

“excellent location and hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Stayed here one night in February. Really good location if travelling by train. The hotel literally backs onto the station (so if in need of quiet ask for a canal facing room). To walk from the station just take the steps down to the main street, right under the arches and then right into Granary Wharf. 5 mins walk.

Very welcoming staff. Nice reception, and the usual clean, crisp, City Inn (as it was, then Mint, now Doubletree by Hilton) rooms: white linen, spacious, good bathroom and toiletries, Apple mac TV / computer with sky sports etc....

Breakfast is superb: cooked fresh, so no wrinkly sausages. If you want something different, you can have eggs benedict or something else.

Just next to the hotel is an interesting Brazilian restaurant / bar. Didn't eat there, but took a quick drink. Bottles of beer, and wine, from all parts of South America: nice. And if you prefer to wonder into town, it is very nearby.

Room Tip: Quiet room: ask for canal facing

“Central,expensive,nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Booked this hotel for a new years even stay 2011 through another website as the former Mint hotel were charging over £100 for a double room. Purchased the room for £71 not including breakfast. Checked in at 2pm, the receptionists were polite and helpful. Requested a room on a higher floor. Got in the room, was clean and very basic. View was ok (train station), facilities in the room included tea & coffee, kettle, iron, safe (that did not work) bathroom was small but fine and clean, obviously the apple mac computer which are in every room (don't know if this is still the case with it now being a Hilton hotel).

There was an A4 print out by the computer telling guests to be careful with the shower door as they were having problems with them. My partner went for a shower and could not get in the shower, the door was stiff and would not slide open. Rung for reception who said they would ring for someone to come up. Advised them that we had a table booked in 45 minutes at a restaurant in the centre and couldn't wait around. They sent somebody after ten minutes who said they would have to change our rooms. I was in the dressing gowned provided by the hotel. Packed everything back up and they changed our room to another on the same floor.

Offered us a bottle of wine as compensation, refused it. So they agreed to refund us half the cost of the room. They stated the refund would be reimbursed in two weeks. It has now been five weeks and still no refund. Contacted the hotel several times to chase this up, passed from one person to the next (blind transfer so had to explain everything several times to different people). Apparently as we booked through another company they are waiting on them to send Mint hotel the money then we get our money back.

Unacceptable service. Room was good, apart from the obvious problem. Would not pay that price to stay in the room again when there was nothing special about it other than the mac.
Sky bar at the top of the hotel is great and reasonably priced too.
