This is the second time we've stayed here, the ONLY reason being that it's right opposite an offroad track and my husband races in the events they hold there. Trust me, if there was another choice, I'd be there like a shot!
Bearing in mind the rooms are £40, don't expect much. It's the standard, incredibly dated, pube-fest that you'd expect. I don't think that they'd changed the sheets, maybe just brushed them down (badly as it happens, I think Wolverine slept in our room the night before). The bathroom wasn't clean, I certainly didn't want a bath and had to brush my teeth with my eyes closed in case I looked into the sink!
The piece de resistance though, was our meal. There was an 80th birthday party that night, which meant that the main restaurant was closed. So they had rearranged what looked like a conference room, into a makeshift restaurant. When we arrived at 7pm, there was a table with 3 people and a table with 8. When we placed our order we were told that we would have a 40 minute wait 'due to the large table'....not quite sure who the chef was if 8 people worried him?! Anyway, our meal arrived 1 and a half hours later......chicken and salmon was so overcooked that it was unrecognisable and they'd even forgotten to cook one of the meals (there were only 3 of us, not like we had a table for 48!). So my husband had to wait for another half hour for his greasy, undercooked fish and chips to arrive. Totally revolting food, the service was terrible - no communication and we were being incredibly English and not grumbling so it's not like they were struglling to deal with us being difficult.
I would say, if you need to stay local then stay here and be prepared! Otherwise stay anywhere else but here!
Room Tip: Don't think there's a tip for a good room to be fair....apart from crossing your fingers!
