“Very rude waitress”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

We had lunch here over the summer and I have never experienced worse service. The older waitress was so rude I was really quite shocked. She ignored us, when we asked for something she walked passed us and told us to wait, she was rude when we asked her opinion. I would never go back to this restaurant. It ruined a otherwise nice day out. AVOID

“Solo noisy,never again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

This is an incredibly noisy hotel. The windows are single glazed and you are on the main high st there was noise outside until about 3am. The street ic cleaned at about 5am and then the staff come in at 7am and put the radio on very loud whilst bottling up! We gave in at 8.30 am got up,breakfast was v tasty but alas more noise. For some unknown reason they decided to replace a window at 9.30am in the main bar/breakfast area, cue lots of loud banging and then drilling. An old couple next to us just walked out in disgust and did not pay sadly I paid £99 pounds for this horrendous experience, it should be £109 but they took £10 for the breakfast ordeal. I really would not wish a stay here on anyone,do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere. On the plus side the food was very good, my suggestion to management is give up on the hotel, I saw three couples leave this morning and they all looked shattered and miserable and focus on your very busy bar and restaurant.

“Not be going back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

Did not enjoy the experience at Trent,s haphazard from the check in was warned about the noise but wow was not prepared for the night ahead. We had booked to eat in the bar and at 7 were confronted by some very drunk lads who could hardly stand up however the duty manager did deal with this very well. We had to wait for a table and if you are wanting a nice meal as a couple this is not the place for you. For me it's trying to be everything to everyone and does not manage it. The food was slow but it was busy, after reading the reviews was disappointed with the meal. We drank lots of wine with the hope of dropping off when we eventually went to the room. The room was fine tiny tv and was roasting in the room. We were in number 1 which is next to the bus stop, and where all the revellers gather till about 1 in the morning could live with that but or Sunday started at 0600 with noise from the road and then the staff arriving to get the bar ready and the radio comes on at 0700 downstairs. On going to breakfast the bar was full of the guests looking as bad as I felt after a poor nights sleep. The radio in the bar was uncomfortably loud and after many complaints the radio was turned down. To top the stay off they started working in the eating area and this was enough for one couple who just left. We did complain but were ignored and the workman started to hammer and drill so enough was enough we left our breakfasts and went to check out as quick as possible. Again this was a haphazard affair. I would not recommend staying here unless you are a very heavy sleeper who does not mind been ignored not the fun relaxing weekend I hoped for.

“Lovely rooms for party animals!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

Trents manages to tread the line between restaurant / bar / cafe and hotel, and does it very nicely. We stayed on a Saturday night when the bar (outside at the back) was heaving until nearly midnight. Great atmosphere if you're wanting a lively drink, but at 8 months pregnant I was hoping for a bit more sleep. Can recommend earplugs!
The rooms are nicely furnished and have nice touches like a bottle of orange juice and some fresh milk in the fridge (plus a teapot!) which other more expensive hotels can often overlook.
Service was friendly, helpful, and the breakfast was lovely.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a night out, a sleep in a lovely comfortable room and then a leisurely breakfast. But if you're after romance or a good night's sleep -perhaps look elsewhere!

“Great, fun location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2010

Great location in centre of Chichester. Room pleasant with tea/coffee/mini fridge, iron, hairdryer, CD player (how quaint!), comfy bed and nice ensuite. We stayed in Room 5 at the back which is quieter although noisy until bar closes so don't book here if you plan to stay in! It was a very hot day when we stayed and the room was boiling so we went out and bought a fan and were fine but sleeping would have been difficult without it. Breakfast good, service a bit haphazard but friendly. It's a place for young people so relax and enjoy or stay somewhere else more sedate!
