Staying at Lordington with Audrey is like staying with a long lost aunt who just happens to have an amazing pad in the country.
We arrived to tea and cake on the terrace, and were joined by Shep, a large and very friendly German Shepherd dog.
The house and grounds are lovely, stately but cosy - we felt welcome to investigate the vegetable and cut flower garden, plus say hello to the chickens.
We had 3 rooms sharing a bathroom, two singles and a double. The rooms were lovely but not "done up" like hotel rooms. These are very much the house's spare rooms opened up to guests. We didn't notice if there were any locks on the doors, but we didn't feel the need to look for any.
One note - the beds vary in firmness so it's a good idea to check what your room will have.
Another practical note is that we didn't get a front door key though Audrey co-ordinated with us so that we could come and go.
Breakfasts were available til 9am and served in the dining room on a big table with the other guests. We only had toast but the other guests had lovely looking fry ups.
We really enjoyed our stay and noted that Audrey also offers "bring your horse" BnB too.
