“Good stay .. well amost !”

The room was warm and comfortable but I felt could do with a litttle more attention on cleanliness. The decor and ambience of the public areas including the restaurant was good and I feel that the hotel represented reasonable value for money particularly the breakfast .. I think that I probably just chose the wrong meal for dinner ! What was meant to be seafood risotto had more of a constituency of seafood flavoured rice pudding although I appreciate that I was dining just as the restaurant was closing. The seafood content was only just recognisable and in my view edible. The hotel is in a good location and has obviously undergone a substantial conversion and potentially is a very good offering. I think that attention just needs to be given to keeping the product sharp and up to a high standard.

“Clean, great service and pleasent atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

I enjoyed my stay at the george and dragon, it was very cosy and the service was fantastic. I stayed in a twin room which was very clean with a nice flat screen tv and great shower. There is a great bar and beautiful conservtory, and a nice patio outside for smokers. The beds were good, although the pillows and cover were very light and made it difficult to get to sleep which was a shame, If they offered a better duvet and pillows i would have given it 5 stars. The location is excellent as it's right in the town, and breakfast in the morning was very tasty and offered lots of choice. Overall yes i would definitly recommend the george and dragon.

“relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

I stayed for a couple of nights in the George and dragon during summer to see my son who is at university there. He mentioned that The G&D had rooms to stay in.
The booking was easy enough as you can do it online and from there website.
Once arriving checking in was easy enough, a member of staff showed me the room as well as letting me know about breakfast, times etc.
The room was cosy and the bed comfortable. I was a little worried about the rooms facing the patio area, but I was told the patio would be closed at 11pm, and sure enough it was.
The breakfast was massive ( I had a full English), and I could not finish it.
The dinner was also good as well as the service through out.
overall it was a pleasant and comfortable stay.
I would recommend it

Room Tip: There is no on-site parking

“Great venue for a private party”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

After a day spent with friends and family at Goodwood Revival to celebrate my husband’s birthday, we returned to the George and Dragon Inn in Chichester to continue the celebrations.
The pub/hotel is in a very convenient location for Goodwood Revival, we left our cars on the morning at Northgate car park (free on Sundays) and walked the 10 mins or so through town to the station where we picked up the Goodwood bus. Dressed in 40s, 50s and 60s outfits, we blended in well with the other passengers.
Due to rain in the afternoon, we were fortunate that we could return early to the GD Inn and spend some time in the bar. If the weather had been nice, we had planned to have pre-dinner drinks in the courtyard but alas English weather took over. The restaurant is not normally open Sunday evenings, but they had opened it for our group (24 of us). The chef created a delicious menu for us – the scallops with butternut squash and bacon were very popular as were the tiger prawns with spinach and chorizo for starters. Mains of beef 2 ways and pork just melted in your mouth. The strawberry and blackpepper ice cream to accompany the creamy crème brulee was a bit like marmite – you love it or hate it (I loved it!). We had the conservatory dining area to ourselves so felt really like a private party. The service was friendly and efficient, and the staff throughout our whole stay were very accommodating.
Those of us lucky enough to stay there the night in the rooms just at the back of the courtyard had a comfortable night. Rooms were well equipped with tea/coffee etc, hair dryers, press, but rather surprisingly a bit lacking on the toiletries side – just a small soap and single shower sachet. My husband told me not to pack much as everything would be there, and just as well I never took any notice of him. More great food was served up at breakfast – scrambled egg and smoked salmon muffin was just right for me, followed by lovely platter of fresh fruit, and those with hearty appetites tucked into the George full, and I mean full, English brekkie.

Room Tip: Largest room and bed is the "large double"
