What a fantastic place to stay. The rooms were clean, bed very comfortable and Breakfast more than adequate. There is so much to see and do in this area and an excellent base to work from.Having read a negative report I can't beleive that they stayed in this Hotel.Well done to Sandra and her Staff for making ours a very enjoyable stay.We shall have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to our friends.

“Disappointing”

Great location and pretty building in pretty village. Sadly the room was rather tired, peeling wall paper and the bathroom was even more than tired. Breakfast average. Plastic orange juice and prefab sliced bread.

Room Tip: Dont chose ours (but cannot remember what it was called)

“Disappointing”

The welcome was more business-like than friendly, although the owner did place some shopping in a fridge for us overnight. We were asked to pay on arrival because the owner would not be there in the morning however there was a chef coming to prepare breakfast so we "could look forward to a wnderful breakfast" We had asked for the most expensive room which was not large , neither was the bathroom. They were just adequate. I cammot imagine what would be missing in a lower priced room, there were certainly no frills. There was a long term leak behind the toilt and the bathroom smelled musty. Should have been noticed by a cleaner. The fitted sheet was threadbare and too small for the matress, the valance was too small for the base of the bed. The bed looked a mess as if it had been prepared in a rush. The window would not shut as the paint was too thich on the frame to allow it to close so the room was cold and there was no heat on. The breakfast was served by a foreign waitress on her first day - not recommended if the owner is absent. The chef produce toast brown on one side white on the other and the hot breakfast consisted of a dried out bland sausage, two strips of cheap bacon which had been cooked folded and a hard poached egg which smelled and tasted of vinegar. My wife's scrambled egg was an unappetising brown colour and was also hard. When we left the premises the owner was there taking payment for other guests, a task which she interrupted to demand if we had left the key in the door. Why we had to pay in advance who knows, We had provided home address details, telephone numbers in England and France, credit card numbers, and she could have noted our car number. Not a pleasant experience
We visit Uk frequently and have used many hotels and B and B this would be way down the list for value and quality. On our last vist we stayed at two fully equipped hotels for about two thirds of the price. Certaily in France I would expect to pay around £50 for accomodation otf this standard and would get a much more friendly welcome. And we have never been asked to pay in advance

“Comfortable clean and quiet, but a little overpriced for what it is”

Friendly welcome and a decent sized room (Goodwood Suite) with comfortable bed, good crisp bed linen comfortable pillows and lashings of hot water for bath. Reasonable hospitality tray, good TV reception, working hairdryer, but only four hangers in the wardrobe which was a bit limiting. Delicious breakfast and a great location - nice little village with excellent pub/restaurant (The Fox Goes Free) set in beautiful countryside, extremely peaceful for the two nights we were there. Those were the plus points. Downsides - well, the decor of the whole place is quite old fashioned and the bedroom we had could certainly do with redecorating and refurbishing; both decor and furniture a bit tired. A bit chilly, as we had a sudden cold snap and the bedroom window wouldn't completely close, and there were two lights not working (one bedroom, one bathroom) - but the real problem, for me, was the bathroom. Spotlessly clean, but a hopelessly inadequate shower and a Saniflo grinding toilet is simply not good enough in the 21st century ~ and particularly not for £124 per night. Because of the poor bathroom facilities I've rated this lower than I might have done otherwise - and had we only paid say £80 - £100 a night for B&B I definitely would have given a higher rating as our overall impression was positive and we had a genuinely enjoyable stay. Just came away with a slight feeling that we'd paid a bit more than the whole experience was really worth.

Room Tip: Traffic on the road can be noisy, so a room at the back might be better, but having said that, we ex...

“Wonderful!”

You couldn't ask for more. Service was friendly, the hotel is well situated, the breakfast was tasty and the room was pleasantly decorated and spacious. I'm not sure why there are negative comments against this hotel. It's a wonderful place where they take every care to ensure your needs are met: Paracetamol on request, maps of the area, front door key, good parking. The area is beautiful, the gardens are stunning and we would definitely stay here again. I really would press the point to ignore the negative reviews and book your stay.

Room Tip: Room 3 was fine.
