Friendly welcome and a decent sized room (Goodwood Suite) with comfortable bed, good crisp bed linen comfortable pillows and lashings of hot water for bath. Reasonable hospitality tray, good TV reception, working hairdryer, but only four hangers in the wardrobe which was a bit limiting. Delicious breakfast and a great location - nice little village with excellent pub/restaurant (The Fox Goes Free) set in beautiful countryside, extremely peaceful for the two nights we were there. Those were the plus points. Downsides - well, the decor of the whole place is quite old fashioned and the bedroom we had could certainly do with redecorating and refurbishing; both decor and furniture a bit tired. A bit chilly, as we had a sudden cold snap and the bedroom window wouldn't completely close, and there were two lights not working (one bedroom, one bathroom) - but the real problem, for me, was the bathroom. Spotlessly clean, but a hopelessly inadequate shower and a Saniflo grinding toilet is simply not good enough in the 21st century ~ and particularly not for £124 per night. Because of the poor bathroom facilities I've rated this lower than I might have done otherwise - and had we only paid say £80 - £100 a night for B&B I definitely would have given a higher rating as our overall impression was positive and we had a genuinely enjoyable stay. Just came away with a slight feeling that we'd paid a bit more than the whole experience was really worth.
