“An Excellent Well Priced B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

Stayed here for 3 weeks in February whilst working in the area and made to feel very welcome by Vicki and Mike. House has a lovely large rear garden and lawn which some rooms open out onto and plenty of parking to the front. Situated just off the A27, which is convenient for Bognor, Arundel & Chichester. Contractor friendly as long as your decent and sometimes willing to strike a bit of a deal if long term. Nearest pub is in walking distance (about 900m) and another in the village below (about 1500m). Would highly recommend!

“Excellent bed & breakfast accommodation, very clean comfortable and friendly.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

Stayed at Woodacre for Glorious Goodwood and found it to be very clean and comfortable. The owners (Vicky and Mike) were very friendly and invited guests to join them for drinks and a chat in their huge garden some evenings.I found the room very clean and the bed comfortable. There were tea and coffee making facilities (and biscuits) in the room and also a television.
The en-suite was good with a shower cubicle and powerful shower and also an assortment of toiletries for guests use.
The breakfasts(fruit juice, cereal, full english, toast and marmalade/jam and tea/coffee) were very filling with the full english cooked to perfection every day.
All in all I have no hesitation in reccommending Woodacre to anybody requiring bed & breakfast accommodation in this area.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2008

We stayed here for 1 night recently. We arrived later than the owner's stated time preference, but were received politely enough and were led to our room.
The room was nicely decorated. We did not book an en suite room but did have a sink in the room which was nice. The bathroom was downstairs - a bit of a nuisance in the middle of the night. If we were planning to stay longer than just 1 night, I think our luggage would have been in the way. Breakfast was tasty. The owner's dogs were present but well-behaved. The garden was beautiful and large.
The only downside was that we felt more like strangers in someone's home than guests. Had this been our only B&B stay on our journey, we may not have noticed as much. At the other places we did stay, however, our hosts just seemed much warmer and eager to make ours a pleasant stay.

  • Liked — convenient to motorway
  • Disliked — Location of bathroom, stairs

“OK, but let down by a few issues”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2008

Booked somewhat at the last minute after struggling to find accommodation elsewhere due to the Arundel Festival. Weren't sure about the location being so close to the A27, but our room was on the far side of the house overlooking the large garden sheltered from the road noise which was not noticeable even with the windows open.

The twin room was clean and comfortable, but being upstairs the entrance through a small door with very limited headroom. Our room was not en-suite (but we knew this) and we believe only one of the four was. There are two bathrooms, one with a bath, the other a shower (which broke on the first morning). No wardrobe provided, only a chest of drawers.

The first night was disturbed by loud talking guests in the room below. More a fault of the guests, but indicative of the poor sound insulation between the ground and 1st floor.

With a capacity of 8/9 people (one room is a family room), but a breakfast room accommodating only 6, we were surprised at being given a limited timeframe to eat our breakfast and felt rushed one or two mornings to make room for the next guests. The breakfast was OK with a modest bowl of fruit, cereals, toast and an English Breakfast. The "continental" breakfast was just no English rather than croissant, cheese etc.

Free wireless internet access was provided with good access from our room and the two resident dogs were very well behaved and friendly.

No massive dislikes, just a general perception that maximising the number of guests was at the expense of attention to some of the details that make a stay memorable.

As we have always taken our guests opinions very seriously and invite out guests to let us know of any problems, felt very dissappointed to read this guests review. Unfortunately unable to identify guest as no name or precise date of stay given, but we would certainly like to apologise for any lack of attention to detail.

We would like to assure visitors that we have 2 dining rooms and can comfortably seat up to 12 guests at any one time. Certainly we wish guests to enjoy as relaxing a time as possible.
