“Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My friend and I had rooms in the courtyard annex. The rooms were clean and comfortable although an indication of the room numbers outside the two annexs would have been useful as it took us some time to find our rooms. There is ample parking and the hotel is ideally situated in the town. The bar was pleasant and the barman very welcoming. Food was good. Breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day. We enjoyed our stay and will stay again when we are in the area.

“Another fantastic stay, wonderfully characteristic building, great food and friendly staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This is our third stay at the Norfolk Arms as a couple, although my boyfriend has visited many times with his family over the last 15 years. From the moment you go to check in you are made to feel very welcome. Every time we visit the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. There is a lovely lounge area with an open fire, there is also an open fire in the bar opposite the lounge so very cosy, especially this time of year. The room was a good size, with en suite bathroom and shower with a heated towel rail. The whole room was very clean and homely. I liked that they had blackout curtains so if you wanted a lay in then it was possible! We stayed in the main part of the building near the back and was undisturbed by any noise or traffic there may have been. There was a flat screen TV in our room and tea and coffee making facilities. We had dinner the night we arrived which was really nice, the waitress was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. She also served us in the bar later that evening and was there again for breakfast the next day....still smiling! She is a credit to the hotel. There was lots of choice for breakfast, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, three different fresh juices, croissaints (all help yourself) and a large menu of cooked food available - you could have any combination. Admittedly the decor is a little tired, but it is an old building so is to be expected. It is really clean and tidy though which is the main thing, and it also means you're not charged horrendously to stay due to them wanted to refurb the whole place! Arundel is a lovely place, and everything is nearby, the hotel is literally in the center of the town, so a good place to stay for that reason also. You are allowed to part at the hotel for free around the back so you don't have that worry either. Will definitely be staying again and will be looking forward to it!

Room Tip: If you would like to see the character of the building, stay in the main part.

Dear Teresa,

Thank you for staying with us at the Norfolk Arms Hotel, and I am so pleased that you so enjoyed your stay. I am certainly very lucky both with my staff who are lovely and friendly, and with my building which whilst a little tired has heaps of character and charm.

I do hope that we will see you again soon.

Kind regards

“Lovely New Years Eve”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We booked at the very last minute for New Years Eve and had such a lovey stay and a great time.
We arrived at 3 and booked in to be told that tea, coffee and cake was being served in the lounge. In front of a lovely real open fire, pure bliss.
Every single member of staff in this hotel was so friendly and made us feel at home.
The food at the dinner was superb and every item was piping hot . The room was decorated and looked lovely. We even had a glass of bubbly to welcome in the new year and every member of staff came round and said happy new year. The disco after the meal was good fun and every one was having such a good time.
Our room was fine and the bed was comfy. All in all a place to relax and unwind and forget about the world outside.

“Value for money - cosy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Stayed for a second time in December. We had a room in the annex. Plenty of free parking, centrally located for access to the town. An ample breakfast to set you up for the day. Comments about it being dated - it's a coaching inn with origins in the 17th century and therefore does have charm. Can't be beaten for location and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

Room Tip: The annex rooms are quieter than rooms on the front of the hotel

Dear Aligirlbear,

Thank you for staying with us - and I am really pleased that you enjoy the traditional charms of a Georgian coaching inn - when you come next time, do ask for a room in the main house which has loads of character, and as you say, being in the heart of the Arundel makes us unbeatable.

Have a wonderful new year

“An ancient Hotel in town centre.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

We had what was described as a cosy room, which it was, however the room was a little tired and the carpet had a few stains on it. The bathroom was spacious but the place on the wall where the shower head goes was very dirty. Breakfast was included but had we not stayed the night the breakfast would have cost a whooping £13.95. We were very impressed with the staff. They could not have been more friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is in a central position in town and has an interesting history. Would stay again.

Dear Hilary,

Thank you for staying with us - you are absolutely right, the Hotel is steeped in history and our location is fabulous, and I have a great team at the Norfolk Arms Hotel. We have quite a number of non resident guests who pop in for breakfast - so although £13.95, you can easily set yourself up for the day!

Next time you come, try for one of our premier rooms - some of which are enormous!

Yours sincerely,
Elizabeth d'Apice
