This was a last-minute booking as the B&B we had booked in Feb ceased trading & we only found out 3 days before departure, so a mad scramble to find somewhere. The hotel is conveniently situated close to the A27 but is rather tired & dated and could do with a face lift and a litter-picking gang. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, the room large and clean, the bed was comfortable, there was a hospitality tray and a good light over the large dressing table. The bathroom was a reasonable size and clean, with a shower over the bath (but one of those dreadful nylon shower curtains that get sucked in and stick to you! why do hotels use them??). Overall it was quiet, no noise from the road or the service station. However, no lifts, no air conditioning, only 4 coathangers in the wardrobe. The breakfast was basic, don't expect home made or locally produced, and don't even bother to ask about marmalade! We did not eat dinner in the restaurant so can't comment on that. Also the car park was not large enough at the weekend. The overflow carpark was unlit, potholed, with a broken down trailer in there and did not instill confidence that your car would still be there in the morning.
Overall, it was ok, but we have stayed in much better small hotels and good B&Bs that were much better value than the £65, £85, £95 and £85 a night that we paid for the room for 4 nights.
Room Tip: Smoking rooms all seem to be on the ground floor, non-smoking rooms on the first floor.
