“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

We stayed at the Comfort Inn Arundel for 1 Saturday night. The double room had, as expected just a standard uk double bed which was a little disappointing as it was capable of taking a much larger bed. The tv was restrictede to just four channels (looks like C5 doesn't exist in the Comfort Inn) but this was no inconvenience. We used the hotel restaurant for our evening meal which, whilst not being Michelin standard was very acceptable. Three courses cost £16 which resulted in a bill of £38 for the two of us, complete with a pint of lager each. The room we had was on the first floor and was large enough. The bathroom was average size and had a shower over the bath. We had paid £5 extra for breakfast which must be the deal of the centuary. Full english for two from the breakfast buffet, with coffee an tea etc. A great price! Overall, it was a very pleasurable stay and we will happily use the hotel again.

“A port in a storm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

This was a last-minute booking as the B&B we had booked in Feb ceased trading & we only found out 3 days before departure, so a mad scramble to find somewhere. The hotel is conveniently situated close to the A27 but is rather tired & dated and could do with a face lift and a litter-picking gang. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, the room large and clean, the bed was comfortable, there was a hospitality tray and a good light over the large dressing table. The bathroom was a reasonable size and clean, with a shower over the bath (but one of those dreadful nylon shower curtains that get sucked in and stick to you! why do hotels use them??). Overall it was quiet, no noise from the road or the service station. However, no lifts, no air conditioning, only 4 coathangers in the wardrobe. The breakfast was basic, don't expect home made or locally produced, and don't even bother to ask about marmalade! We did not eat dinner in the restaurant so can't comment on that. Also the car park was not large enough at the weekend. The overflow carpark was unlit, potholed, with a broken down trailer in there and did not instill confidence that your car would still be there in the morning.
Overall, it was ok, but we have stayed in much better small hotels and good B&Bs that were much better value than the £65, £85, £95 and £85 a night that we paid for the room for 4 nights.

Room Tip: Smoking rooms all seem to be on the ground floor, non-smoking rooms on the first floor.

“NOT GREAT”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

We stayed here for one night recently as we were visiting my daughter in Worthing to help her move house. Unfortunately due to the International Bowls Tournament this was the closest accommodation we could get. I had read the mixed reviews on Tripadvisor and just hoped it would be ok. However, it was not great. I have to say the bed was clean and comfortable which was a real bonus. The bedroom was not very clean. The carpet style skirting boards were very dusty and there were biscuit crumbs on the carpet, The curtains were hanging from the rail at one end and the walls were very marked. The bathroom was even worse. The bath, hand basin and toilet were all nice and clean as was the shower curtain and the shower nice and powerful. However there was black mould on the ceiling (as in the photo of a previous reviewer), the shower curtain rail was rusty, there was black around the bath and down the wall panels and the door architrave was actually rotten where water had run over the end of the bath. I was glad we had only booked the one night and had we only paid £29 would not have been too upset. However we actually paid £95 for the room only - no breakfast included! The file in the room said there was a Customer Survey form in the bedside drawer - I would have completed it had there been one! We will not be returning.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

The staff are friendly and the food is great! Although rooms need a bit of updating, its very comfortable and what you need for the night. McDonalds right opposite but glad I didnt have one as the food was to die for, as well as the breakfast!

“Excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

I noticed some very adverse criticism of this place after I had booked so arrived with some serious afterthoughts. However, I needn't have bothered. The hotel was well laid out, pleasant and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although the room was slightly dated, it was clean, pleasant with all the facilities we needed. Towels, shower caps, shower gel and handwash were all there. At night it was very quiet although it was located next to a 24-hour McDonalds and a BP Petrol Station. The latter was useful on the Sunday for the papers! In the morning the buffet breakfast included everything from toast to a full english. Hot, well-cooked and nourishing. We would definitely return.
