There's absolutely nothing fundamentally wrong with the Ramada in Coventry. I've just stayed there for four nights in one of their studio apartments. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable, but it is those little extra touches that even chain hotels can do that this hotel just doesn't quite get.

A couple of minor gripes out of the way first; My non-smoking room was at some point in its life a smoking room because you could smell it the moment you walked in. The second minor gripe concerns the very small fitness room, where the running machine and rowing machine were both broken when I was there - no wonder they don't shout about it as a major ameniyt.

That said, I had a perfectly acceptable meal in the restaurant one night, the local cinema is just 5 minutes away by foot and if you're working in the middle of Coventry, you can easily walk there too.

Will I stay there again? Probably not. It's just a bit too pricey for what it offers and I'd rather have a decent pool and gym for longer stays than a sofa, a toaster and a coffee maker for less money somewhere else. It's definitely worth considering as a hotel though, there's nothing that has me saying never again!

Stayed here for 2 nights recently for busines in Coventry. A hotel with no character and the area, while an easy walk from the station and convenient for the city centre, also lacks a personality. It is clean, has a bar and restaurant, breakfasts are OK, service is reasonably good, the rooms are relatively spacious and beds comfortable. I have not eaten in the restaurant but across the road there are a range of eateries from up-market curry house to take away kebab. It's a hotel that does what it does very well but don't expect a memorable stay.

Having stayed here four or five times now for an overnight busines stay in Coventry, the place is growing on me. Not a lot of character - particularly from the outside - but it's clean, has a bar and restaurant, breakfasts are OK, service is reasonably good, the rooms are relatively spacious, beds comfortable and if you can get a room near the top of the hotel, the views over the City are excellent. Although I have only eaten in the restaurant once ( across the road there are a range of eateries from up-market curry house to take away kebab) I thought it was a bit overpriced for the quality - easy to rack up £30-40 on a so-so meal. The location is an easy walk from the station, so I will continue to use the Ramada.

I stayed at the Ramada Hotel, Coventry and was allocated a room on the 9th floor, I was not asked if I wanted a smoking room or not.
On entering the room it was evident the room had been used by someone who smokes, I guess the ashtray and the burn marks on the desk would have given it away even if the smell had not.
As I was on a tight schedule when I went to the room I did not have the time to ask reception to change the room.
When I returned to the room later in the evening, the smell was still evident and I found it rather difficult to sleep.
On checking out I did tell the receptionist but she did not seem that interested.
My recommendation would be ensure you state the room you require.
