“Food great, rooms ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I have stayed here several times over the last two years, the most recent being a week in January 2012. The hotel is well located for motorway access with plenty of free car parking. The chef is absolutely brilliant, providing a real variety of expertly executed evening meals for the large group of us (usually around 60-70 people). The staff are generally friendly and helpful. Each room i've stayed in has been basic but comfortable and quiet. The beds are a little firm if you're smaller built, but perfectly ok. The showers are fine, the bathroom decor is a bit dated, but always clean. Not a place to luxuriate in your room, but fine if that's not the main reason you're staying.

Room Tip: There's no lift - choose a ground floor room if you want to avoid the two flights of stairs.

“Good Value”

Stayed just one night. Arrived a bit early and the receptionist hadn't come on shift - the duty manager was still learning the job, so although we couldn't check in, we were given our key and allowed to go on into our room. Quite small and furniture rather dated, but it was clean and had a large flat screen tv mounted on the wall opposite the bed. Bathroom was a shower room, no bath, but modern, and very clean. Paid £35 for the room, breakfast would have been £9 each, which i think is a bit much for a budget hotel. We didn't have breakfast as we wanted to get away early. Have no complaints, would return at this price.

“Awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Booked a room for our Wedding evening reception - but got messed around by the staff there, couldnt get in contact with them, they wouldnt confirm the price, and then they tripled the original quote when we eventually got hold of them.

Very bad service, would not reccomend booking any events with them, or even any other hotel in their chain, as the staff were often out at other hotels instead of making their arranged meetings. Poor customer service, especially when dealing with someones wedding!

Did not stay here, so cannot comment on the rooms, but the paint was flaking off in large patched on the front of the building, and there were large brown damp stains on the ceiling tiles in the lobby.

Room Tip: Hotel across the road is alot prettier, sitting on a golf course. Havent stayed there either, but ha...

“A good nights sleep for the whole family.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We pulled up after a tiring day out at drayton manor (a 25 min drive) into a space immediately outside the hotel - very convenient! Noticed that they have ladies only parking- a great idea for lone female travellers. The front of the hotel is well maintained and gave a good first impression - we went into the mordern and relaxed reception and were greeted with a warm welcome and a swift check in- great with 2 small and tired children in tow! - Booked a double room with a single bed and a rollout bed, but were more than happy to be given a Family room with a double bed and bunk beds - Though a little dated, It was warm, clean and the beds comfortable with adequate space for the family. Didnt use the restaurant but got drinks from the fairly priced bar. The hotel is a little on the outskirts, but not a problem as we had the car.

After a good nights sleep we checked out smoothly and went home happy. A nice stay from start to finish, well worth a try.

“2 night stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Our stay at the hotel was disappointing. The room was basic with a number of issues, such as the mattress which was dated and uncomfortable. The sheets had holes in them and the bed was not properly made (about which we complained without any results). The bathroom toileteries were of poor quality and there was no shower curtains.

We ordered room service on our first night and the food was absolutely terrible. The chicken looked like it had died a hundred years ago, it was overcooked, bland and flavourless. The vegetables looked unfresh and unappetising. The starter looked like it had recently been defrosted and microwaved. The dessert was a cake which was either past its sell by date or dry enough to be thrown away. We were so shocked with the food that we didn't have breakfast on either of the days we spent at the hotel, despite having gone for a B&B deal.

The staff are polite and friendly, however, that did little to improve our experience at this hotel. The location is not close to the city centre or any major attractions, so its not like the terrible experience was a price worth paying.
