“Superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Very impressed by this - was very close to the event I was in Birmingham for on a Saturday night so super handy.

It's a little inconspicuous from the outside as it just looks like a normal university building, and when you enter it's not obvious at all that the desk you encounter is the check-in desk - it has more the appearance of a concierge in a swanky office building. Check out is meant to be at 10am but as I explained that I might not be using the room until 6am they made a note and the guy said "as long as you're out before midday it'll be fine" - which it was - no fuss when I left at 11.45.

I had a room on the top floor, and the room itself is pretty big. There's an archway that leads to another room with desk, table and chairs, and the bathroom leading off. A bonus is that the wi-fi is free (there's an access code on the piece of cardboard that comes with your keycard - 300mb limit). There were biscuits with the tea and coffee tray too, which is a rarity nowdays.

Will definitely stay here again if I need a clean, big, decent room in Brum.

“Cheap stay, but rooms need a lot of work.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed here on the 23rd & 24 Jan 2012 on a business trip, the room i was given was very old, the heating pipes made a constant noise all night the furniture was stained. The bathroom was in need of major repair as the bath panel had a massive crack in it the tiles were going black at the grout and all around the bath was black. The corridor leading to the rooms was so small it felt like i was walking down a ships corridor. I went to the bar and i was told i would not be served as there are not enough people in the bar so it was closing early.

The best part of the hotel was the free WIFI although it was limited you could ask for a new code and get 300mb at a time!! Also there was free tea & coffee with buns and a selection of cakes all day. I am not sure of the price as it was booked by my company but i would ask to stay some where a bit newer if i get sent back to Birmingham.

Room Tip: Ask to be put in the new part of the hotel as the photos on the site are very misleading

“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Very impressed with this hotel, within a conference centre, within the Aston University campus, within central Birmingham. The rooms were modern & really clean, full bathroom with toiletries, wardrobe with iron & ironing board, nice tea tray, tv & hairdryer. I found it nice & quiet, had a great nights sleep. Parking was on the campus and cost £1 overnight - the double room was at a great rate - £40 (no breakfast) on the internet. We had bar snacks in the evening which were really nice, there's also a restaurant/ room service options. It was a short walk (5 mins) to the town centre/mall. What I didnt find out til we got there was that the University gym & pool are free to guests - wish I had brought my kit! Its the oldest pool in Birmingham & is literally 2 mins walk from the hotel.

“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I have stayed at this hotel twice and both times I have been very pleased with my stay. The rooms are a good size and very comfortable. The food at the hotel bar is delicious and it is in a convenient location for the university and city centre.

“Excellent staff, very good room at great rate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

A bit of a hidden gem really, belonging to Aston Business School and being right on the campus, this is not the usual place I would choose, but I'm glad I did. Enjoyed one of the refurbished rooms (they should by now all have been refurbed), as well as the bar and restaurant downstairs. With it being on the university campus it is quite lively most times of the day outside, so no problem when walking back late. Didn't hear anything from the campus once in my room. The sports centre and swimming pool are just across the road. Will return.
