“Might as well sleep in the drain”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Now, I am not one to write a review normally, Infact I read these and thin to myself "it cant be thats bad" . . . . . . . Well, what can I say? If I was going out to get plastered and was then coming back to pass out in my own vomit . . . . . . I would still want not want to stay here again. The carpet is filthy and the bathroom floor is stained. Instead of spending their money getting the towels embroidered, maybe they should buy some carpet shampoo and some bleach. NEVER AGAIN!

Room Tip: Another hotel!

“Excellent value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Yes, most reviews are correct. The rooms need to be refurbished although beds are comfortable and the bedding is clean & fresh.

Service & food quality is good but the location is not the prettiest.

In summary it was the best priced hotel of this type in Birmingham for an overnighter and if, god forbid, I needed to overnight in Birmingham on business again I would chose the campanille.

If I was with the wife or the family then this hotel would not be the choice

“Stayed in better places...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

My room was very cold, I actually thought there was a window open but there wasn't!! But i didn't really want to put my heater on as the walls had started to go black above the heater, so didn't want to sleep with it on...

The food wasn't great, the desert buffet, I told them the cakes were dried and hard and they said they'd look for some more, but didn't have much more in ghe fridge.. Like someone else said its a budget stay..
But realistically the hotel room was very clean spacious bathroom, I stopped here on business, so wasn't like a fun trip.

“No sleep!”

If you're planning an overnight here and expecting to get some sleep forget it! When we stayed it was full of drunk hen parties, with screaming and laughing down the corridors until gone 5.00am. The night porter was a complete waste of time and we didn't sleep a wink! Complained the next morning and got a miserly £25 refund, my advice would be if you want to rest and sleep, you'd best get a tent and pitch it on a main road in Birmingham city centre - you'll sleep better!

“Budget hotel, budget experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Ok, I wasn't expecting much for £46 a night and it didn't disappoint. It's not terrible (the bed was clean) but it's pretty run down. The bathroom was pretty old looking and could do with a make-over, the room was small and the carpet-well, I kept my socks on.The bar is ok (didn't try the food) and the location ok. Put it this way, if I went to Brum again, and money was an issue for a prolonged stay, I would probably book but for an overnight with the missus-no way. Reception seemed friendly enough-location, I wouldn't advise walking from it so taxis would be the name of the game.

Room Tip: They all seem the same-one of my collegues walked into his and found someone sleeping in it!
