“Good value for money”

Well what do people expect for the price? The room was not the best decor and dated but was clean with crisp white sheets and clean bathroom. Tea & coffee making facilities and a fridge which was great. Staff friendly and helpful. Indian restaurant under the B&B was awesome with nice decor, attentive staff and the nicest indian food I have ever eaten. Location was about 20 mins straightforward drive to NEC. All in all great value and we will be staying again next year..

“amenities mentioned not actually available”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2010

no internet, no restaurant, no lift, toilets are not sanitized.

you get a queen size bed with a window A/c which rattles throughout the night.

the only plus point about the hotel is that the staff are cheerful and are available for room service. though they dont have a restaurant they procure beverages and breakfast from an adjacent restaurant

this would be an ideal hotel if you just have to to dump your baggage and head off to work

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2010

I will start by saying something nice about this hotel. The only thing I can recommend is the location. If you come out of the door and turn to your left and walk for about five minutes, you hit a small town centre with plenty of shops. This is a good idea as if you turn to the right, the only things you will find are small local shops a long walk away and Mecca Bingo.

The hotel itself looks nice enough and communal areas are in a fair state of repair. However, the room we stayed in had peeling wallpaper, a broken shower and the sheets on the bed were dirty with stains, which was fairly unpleasant. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, however, the quality of cleaning was very poor. We left the room for them to clean it, returned and found that despite sounds of hoovering, the floor was exactly as we had left it.

However, our main complain has to be the service. There were more staff on the Marie Celeste. Checking in was fine enough, the gentleman at reception was pleasant and we have no complains about that, although they do take the money in advance, this will probably be explained in a moment.

When we came to check out there was seemingly no one in the entire hotel. We came downstairs to find everything was locked up. We tried pressing the buzzer for service and received no response. I wanted to hand my room card to someone rather than just pushing it under a door in case we were charged for an extra night. We waited a whole hour for someone to appear, when he did appear, he came from the inside door, meaning he had been in the hotel the whole time we had been ringing the buzzer. He snapped 'what' at me and scowled when I handed him the card. He was very rude and obviously resented us asking him for anything. He looked very much as though he had just come from his bed.

So overall, fair location, bad hotel.

“MISLEADING DISCRIBTION - NOT BUDGET BUT RIPP OFF - STAY AWAY-”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2009

I read the discribtion of hotel which says it is CONVINIENTLY LOCATED TO NEC - but the truth is it is good 10 minutes walk from train station ( small station not so frequent trains ) - (I was told buses are slow too ) - now to get to main city I mean birmingham bullring you will have to walk ten minutes .. wait for train .. pay 3.50 or so ... doesnt sound very CONVINIENT NOW ? does it ?
Now even worst if like me you wanted a budget hotel NEAR NEC - (clearly stated in hotel discription ) you have to take another train from bullring station -( buses are same you have to change twice .)
Third option is to take a taxi or shall I say a rip off taxi called ACE cars (highly recomended by hotel staff)- charged me
£ 15 . from hotel to NEC - yes I was over charged by at least £ 3 , so just imagine if you r taking taxi to city center and back it will cost u at least a 10 . if u r lucky not to get rip off taxi . add that to 25 stay per night - yes it is 35 ....
I would strongly advice you stay away from this hotel if like me u r planing to use PUBLIC TRANSPORT - if u have a car may be ok for u.
There are loads of budget hotels in town , where u might pay a fiver more but it will save u from travelling money & time .
IF like me u r booking it by last minute .com or any other 3rd party & not directly then u will have to make a full payment & no cancellation will be allowed once u check inn & find out exactly how CONVINIENT IT is in terms of location . The staff just refused to refund even 2 days of my money ( out of 6 nights , reason I have already cheked in ) even if I canceelled 48 hours in advance . Not so helpful staff to me now ??
just to get 2 Nights refund I wasted good few £ ... on phone calls to LAST MINUTE . .

YES the bed sheets were clean , quilt cover was clean too ,but please look inside the cover ... state of quilts were disgusting - lots of hot water but no toiletris available ...
BEWARE OF all the problems in terms of LOCATION , REFUND POLICIES , AND incorrect discribtion of hotel -AND yes it says all our rooms r non smoking NOW what s an ASHHTRAY doing in non smoking room ??
Didy rooms - decore rubbish -intercome not working -

OVERALL a seriously bad experience & even an expensive one .
STAY AWAY ...
