Stayed at this hotel last night on a visit to the Birmingham NEC Interiors 2012 show. Excellent accessible rooms for the disabled, only a couple of minor issues mainly very good. On arrival you can park in the hotels own car park which is on 2 levels adjacent to the hotel. It's a £5 charge for hotel guests per 24 hours but for disabled guests with blue badges this is free. Disabled bays are clearly marked and on the lower level. There are notices at each bay advising you to ring a number at the hotel if you require any assistance which we did. A very helpful man came down to us and helped carry our bags to reception and then onwards to our room. My partner is paraplegic and as many disabled travellers know require lots of luggage for the shortest of stays; i.e. bags of medical supplies, wheelchair etc so this was a great help. All of the staff were very helpful and asked us to call them immediately should we require any further assistance. They helped us carry our bags down to check out this morning also. The room was spacious and very clean. It was nicely presented and the accessible bathroom very good. We did request a portable shower chair in advance but unfortunately the hotel was not able to provide one. There is a fold down shower seat in the shower. This would be suitable for someone who is not as disabled as my partner who is able to balance on it, but it is small and not suitable for most paraplegics. I think the room would have been perfect had a portable shower chair been available. Maybe this hotel could take note as I am sure we will not have been the only guests who would have appreciated this on loan for the night. As a consequence of this, my partner was not able to use the shower in the morning and had to make do with a wash, but we pretty much expected this. The only other minor things we feel merit a mention are that the heating for the whole room and bathroom is supplied from a unit in the far corner of the room. We were warm enough once in bed, but I am always on the warm side and even though we turned the heat up to 28 degrees it did not filter around the room sufficiently. It was only warm when you stood directly underneath it. There were no radiators or heated towel rails in the bathroom. There was no dressing table for ladies but a work station desk in the room provided a suitable place for drying hair etc and putting makeup on if you have your own mirror with you as there were no mirrors for this purpose. Electrical points are fine though, so no problems there. The kettle did not boil properly either so to make a cup of tea we had to hold the jug down firmly by hand on the base to get power as it did not connect well enough to boil otherwise.Only two teabags and 2 U.H.T. milk cartons in the room so we asked for more later that night from Reception they were happy to get us some more so we could have a cup of tea this morning. After reading poor reviews about the food on this site from other travellers we decided against eating in the hotel and went to eat last night at the Indian restaurant next door - The Balti Kitchen ( see separate review) which was very good. All in all, apart from the minor points I mention above, we were very happy with the staff, room and hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Thank you for your feedback, we're glad you enjoyed your stay. We will look in to getting a portable shower chair for the use of future guests, so thank you for pointing out this oversight. We also understand that, in some larger rooms, the location of the air conditioning unit can mean it takes a while for the room to warm up.
