“Good Hotel for a city break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Recently stayed at the hotel for my birthday weekend, I have to first and foremost say how impressed we were with one of the barmen "Hamdi" nothing was too much trouble for this chap!! from directing us to the city centre or reccomending the best hotel menus!!

Our room was on the 5th floor and if there where any views this would have been great!!

Hotel is 5 minutes by car to the city centre and if you fancy a little walk i'd say it's 15 minutes by foot......I'm not a walker!!

The only negative comment we would make would be that the heating did not work in our room but when we called down to reception the gentlemen on the desk personally came up to check and then sent a portable heater within 5 minutes!

“Less than impressive”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My key did not work in the door and a helpful member of staff let me in. Much confusion ensued as to whether I had dumped my bag in a room already occupied.
The room we held a corporate dinner in was freezing and they had to supply radiators. The food was poor, haloumi main course involved hunting for the two tiny pieces, the sticky toffee pudding was cold and uncooked in the centre.
The pool, I learned on arrival, was closed that week for refurbishment.
On the plus side the room and bathroom on the 5th floor were large. The bed was comfortable.
But no hair conditioner or body lotion. Would not return.

Room Tip: 5th floor room was spacious.

“Good standard, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Have stayed at this hotel twice recently on business and found it to be of a good standard, reasonably close to the city centre - 5 minutes in a taxi from New Street station.

My double room wasn't particularly large, but more than adequate, clean and tidy. The heating was very good on a cold night. Because of the positionning of the hotel, most rooms face onto a busy road. The traffic noise did not disturb me, but I wouldn't have wanted to open a window. The only slight complaint was the pillows which I and other colleagues who stayed at the hotel found uncomfortable.

The breakfast buffet had a reasonable, if not extensive choice and both waiters and reception staff were friendly and helpful.

All in all, I would stay here again and would recommend for business or leisure travellers. The city centre is walkable, but there are probably other hotels of a similar standard slightly closer to the centre if that's your priority.

“Ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed in a standard double which was ok nothing to write home about but no issues either. We can't complain as room was free with Marriott rewards points.

“The best place to stay in Birmingham.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Not only is this hotel beautiful but it is clean and comfortable. The hotel staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. This hotel is in the middle of the city so you can walk to food, shopping, bars, and entertainment. There is limited parking but the staff is very helpful with this. I highly recommend this hotel!
