“Very handy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I have stayed at the Plough & Harrow several times previously, so knew what to expect.

Stayed in Room 11 (a bit of a hike, but no real issue). Upon arrival, the room was particularly cold, and even after having wound the radiator up to maximum, it was not really improving quickly enough. Following a call to reception, an additional heater was provided which quickly did the trick.

Ordered room service sandwiches at about 23:00hrs (24hr service); was told no chips as kitchen was now closed? The sandwiches turned up promptly, and were obviously freshly made, but were very basic.

Breakfast is worth taking, good service and a reasonable choice.

“Great friendly hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding at the Botanical gardens only a short walk away. The rooms were slightly dated but large and spotlessly clean. Reception were polite and helpful. We had a problem with the lights in our sons room but it was dealt with promptly, with no fuss, and resolved before we returned to our rooms later that evening. Breakfast was simple but done well (certainly good enough for the price paid) and the waiter was very friendly with a " nothing's too much bother" approach creating a relaxed atmosphere. Overall, excellent value and a positive experience. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend for a comfortable and friendly stop over.

“If you can get a deal they are unbeatable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

City break out of season, three night stay. Lovely old hotel. Rooms a bit worn but main building full of character. Very handy for city center, twenty minute walk to bullring. Annex rooms are a distance from hotel reception so if this is a problem to you ask for nearer room. Service quality is high as is general quality of food. If you can get on a deal this hotel takes a bit of beating.

“great stay”

Stayed at the Plough and Harrow because it was convenient location for a function we were attending. What can I say, as you can see by my rating it was just fabulous. I don't normally do reviews but this was worth it. Charming old country house complete with beautiful wooden staircases and comfortable rooms. The service was also reminiscent of a bygone age, especially by the Australian girl that served us breakfast. What a delight. Chatty, charming and with an endless supply of coffee! You don't get that much these days. The breakfast was delicious with a 'pick and choose' option of freshly cooked hot food accompanied by a lovely selection of fruit, cereal and pastries. We will be happy to return.

Room Tip: if you can't walk very well, ask for a room near reception. our friend's room was a long way...

We stayed Friday and Saturday night as our son was getting married close by. A very comfortable room and very reasonable rates with an excellent breakfast.
