“Too many little things wrong”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

Stopped here while on a work trip, i searched the internet for a hotel in the city centre and found this one. Its bang in the middle of China town that is on the outer ring of the city centre. it is fantastically located for eating out as there are 20-30 restaurants all within 0-5 minutes walk. checking was quick and the receptionist was helpful and friendly. parking is good and under the hotel. you drive into the small loading bay about 15 mts before the main entrance, in the bottom right corner are 2 large red doors, press the buzzer, and they open revealing the car park. the budget rooms are small, the walls are paper thin, bathroom is tiny and everything else is budget (towels are small, 2teabags, plastic spoon breaks, beds really small and light) but all in all you can get buy and have a decent nights sleep providing there are no loud guests nearby. the thing that ruined it for me was the hot water, in the sink it was barely a trickle but was hot (just), the shower was weak and the water was cold, i can't think of anything worse than waking up to a cold shower, i.didn't have time in the morning for it to be fixed or move rooms so just had to live with it.

Breakfast was good, plates are tiny, and hotel reception is a nice place to be, overall the staff in the hotel are great but i would expect a budget room to be a little more functional.

“Depends on the price”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Stayed here for the last two nights of a business trip - the hotel I had stayed at the previous week was much much bettter but fully booked (there was an event at the NEC). Despite the cost being almost double the nightly rate of the previous week, the Ibis was nowhere near as good. Room was small, cold and cheerless, but was clean. Shower room was minute, and I endorse the complaints that others have made about the towels. Particularly worrying for a woman travelling alone was the lack of spyhole and safety chain on the door. As others have commented the hotel was noisy, not from outside but from other guests slamming doors and shouting in the corridor. Breakfast was adequate but not good. Door cards didn't work properly requiring trips to reception to be corrected each time.

All in all the standard was acceptable for a budget hotel - but they were not charging budget prices and for the amount my employers were paying was a complete rip off. Will not be back here again!

“Hotel abyss!”

Have to stay here with work and have never really enjoyed the experience, however it had seemed to be improving lately. Unfortunately it is back to its old ways. Its not yet 8am, and already today there is no hot water, no seats at breakfast (actually there are loads of spaces - just no clear tables), no hot food anyway. More telling is that there has been no apology.

Speaking to reception gets nothing more than a mumble...

“Business one night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

I was apprehensive as i normally don't stay in budget hotels with work. This one is right in China town with superb restaurants within easy walking distance. The room was basic but mine was clean, the shower room was also modern and surprisingly good quality. My pet hate is dirty bathrooms, but this one A1 clean. Dont expect huge rooms but they fine for one night. We used meeting rooms next day, which had fab views of Chinese New Year celebrations across the road :)
