A lovely quirky hotel comfortable bed, lovely breakfast and friendly staff, stayed here weekend of 20th Jan.

Booked this hotel based on the central location and web site....were we disappointed ! Staff were very pleasant on check in but once we arrived on our floor a rather unpleasant aroma greeted us. The carpets throughout were threadbare and a general feeling of neglect was apparent.
Our room was in need of redecoration and in places filthy!! The wall paper under the window a prime example. (shame we are unable to post photographic evidence)
I'm unable to give any info re sleep quality, food etc as we promptly picked up our bags and booked into another hotel.

The location is excellent for the railway station, the room was clean, the meals are surprisingly cheap and the staff have been well trained. On the first night we decided to eat out and tried the self service Chinese called "Chopstix" opposite the hotel, we made a terrible choice!
The second night we decided to just eat in the hotel and wished that we had only done it the first night. City centre hotel, a little dated maybe, but we were pleased with it.

Excellent location,walking distance from station/ on arrival pleasant and efficient service/room 530 was clean, warm and spacious. Staff were friendly and happy to assist. My bed was big and very comfortable and also clean, I'm allergic to dust so would notice if room had not been vacuumed.The breakfast room was very pleasant and provided a good selection of hot and cold food and as much tea as I needed.
