“Absolutely fine, you get what you pay for.”

We stayed for 1 night, I was apprehensive after reading the terrible reviews on here but by brother had stayed before and said it was fine - he was right.

The room was clean, the bathroom was clean, there was no furniture falling apart, no 'unsavoury' characters and the receptionist was cheerful, helpful and spoke perfect English. There were enough towels and I'd bought my own shower gel etc.

We wanted somewhere close to Birmingham that wasn't stupidly expensive and had parking, the Prime Lodge did the trick. We didn't have breakfast so I can't comment on that. I would however stay here again.

Very poor hotel. The area seemed a little unsavory for a start. The amount of security made me question why rarther than feel safe. The man was rude and said very little. During the night i stook to the plastic sheeting on the bed and had to go and ask fir coffe as only teabags were provided. We went through to what it said was the breakfast room in th morning but it was now a a non customer area and a table placed in ghe dimly lit reception was where we were sat. I hafnt slept well so looked forward to a nice hearty breakfast at leaste. A fried egg on a plate each for my wife and me arived, followed by by a bowl of backed beans between us. That was it!!. I by no meens expect luxury but this place failed even to meet the basics. It felt like corners were cut at every oppertunity and whenever they could could save a penny or two they were not shy in doing so. Thats about it, poor service by rude people.

“Appalling!!!!! DO NOT STAY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

Ok, found it very difficult to find, called reception for assistance and the man was very difficult to understand and could not give clear directions and finally put the phone down. The car park was covered in glass and rubbish and was not even tarmacced properly. The "security gate" was not locked properly, AND when you press the buzzer to get in, they just let you in without asking if you're a guest. So any old Tom, Dick and Harry could walk in! The entrance to reception was a fire exit!! that was left wide open for potentially unwanted people. When at reception we were not greeted in anyway. The man simply asked if I was paying cash or card upfront rather than when checking out?!?! And I'm not surprised why! As a party of 6 we had 2 twin/double rooms with an extra bed which cost a further £25 EACH! The "extra bed" was a mattress propped up against the wall, which was physically not going to fit in between the two single beds as it was TINY. When asking the man why he provided us with something that was not fit for purpose he simply said "not my falut"...NOT MINE EITHER!!! And he still insisted that we pay for them. And he also left us to move the beds round ourselves with no assistance. The doors would not lock unless you left the keys in them...pointless. Eventually we decided that we could not stay there ad explained to him why. He refused to give a refund and said I would need to speak to the company I booked it through, yet I had made no payment to the booking company. I asked for a phone to call them to take the matter further, he said that there wasn't one and the reception phone did not call out. He then threw, yes THREW his mobile at me across the desk and told me to use that. He then did not have any contact details for them, and there was no manager on site that I could speak to. He constantly tried to talk over me, and was unbelievably rude!! He offered then to take the price off for one the extra beds, but I wanted a full refund as I was not going to stay there. He told me this was impossible. Finally after 15 minutes of arguing with me like a child in front of a customer who was waiting to check in, he made a big sigh and grunted "Give me your card" and eventually gave me a refund. No manners, please or thank you's nothing. Not even an apology. Absolutely appalling.

“DO NOT STAY HERE!!!”

We did not even get out of the car. As we drove upto it we saw two crackheads leaving and friends who live in Birmingham said its one of those places a £5 prostitute would take a client. This is the worst place I have ever seen. We didn't go in but the outside was truly awful.

If you are desperate then just sleep in your car or a bus shelter!

ps - we managed to book a room that day at Aston Conference Centre which I would recommend. : )

“EVEN ON A TIGHT BUDGET IT AIN'T WORTH IT!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

Being really strapped we booked this and had we not borrowed a tomtom, would never have found it. The neighbourhood was pretty seedy and there was certainly nowhere nearby we would have stopped to eat at. When we entered the carpark, our hearts sank and we braced ourselves for a pretty grotty experience. In all fairness, our room was very clean. True there was paint peeling off in the shower and there were a few brown marks on the wall that didn't bear scrutiny, but the sheets were spotless as were the towels and the room smelt clean. Sleeping the first night was well nigh impossible because of the crackly and extremely stultifying piece of plastic on the mattress. The plastic cover inside the pillows were even worse. We took them all off every night and then, put them back on in the mornings. We had to pay £6 for a taxi everyday to New Street as we had to be at the NEC early every morning and then had to do the same on the way back because we were too knackered to get a bus. The owner and staff were always polite and were extremely helpful with the taxis getting us a discount or we would have paid more than £6 per journey. We stuck it out for 5 nights (intrepid, that's us!) because we really just needed somewhere to lay our heads and let's face it - everything was as it said on the tin. £175 for 2 of us for 5 nights so we couldn't and shouldn't expect the Ritz! Was it worth it? No. There was nowhere to relax or even read a newspaper. The tv didn't really work and there was an outboard motor whirring away inside one of the walls so it was really bloody uncomfortable.
