“Our perfect wedding venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I've just realized having been an avid trip advisor I hadn't put in a review about our wedding day at Wroxall so here it goes. Having gone to do so I'm unbelievably shocked at the negative reviews as I can only sing Wroxall's praises.
We booked our wedding
20months in advance having been totally won over by the beautiful grounds, exterior of the mansion house, wonderful staff and homely decor and we 100% made the correct choice.
Everyone on our special day made it magical. The staff are so helpful and down to earth-nothing is a problem. I stayed the night before with my mum-we had a beautiful meal in which the manager came and saw how I was doing, telling me any request wasn't too small in order for my wedding to be perfect. I'd requested that 5 buckets of ice be brought up to my wonderful suite at 8am to cool the champers that we'd brought with us and sure enough at 8am they arrived (although we could have chosen to cool them in the bar fridge which the manager offered us!) no stuck up attitude of having to buy theirs instead.
The food is delicious and well worth the money spent-all our guests still rant about how wonderful the day was as well as saying the service was second to none-I can't agree more.
There really is no pleasing some people and I would recommend this hotel as a wedding venue to anyone searching for a fairytale setting with staff that make your day run as smoothly as any bride would dream of. Thank you everyone for making our day so memorable-and a huge thank you to Katherine Cross who was our wedding coordinator, she's a credit to the establishment.

“Lovely old place to stay”

Stayed here when we went to top gear live. Lovely old hall with nice bedrooms, excellent quality food, nice to sit and drink in the bar by the fire. Don't expect contemporary as its an old hall and is furnished as such.

“Another Very Merry Christmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Christmas at Wroxall has become a family tradition, and we were pleased to see that little has changed since last year - although sadly the snow wasn't there this time.

Our usual rooms had been refurbished, with flat screen TVs and decent wallpaper, but the wonderful food, friendly staff and atmosphere were the same as ever. There was the added bonus as Christmas Day fell on a Sunday of being able to walk across to the tiny cathedral for a lovely carol service.

The rooms, indeed the whole hotel, might not be to everyone's taste. but if you want bland, corporate, chain facilities there's a Holiday Inn ten minutes drive away in Solihull. I'll keep the unique charm of Wroxall, thank you.

“Poor quality for the price charged.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

On the outside Wroxall Abbey is a beautfiul historical building which gives you the impression you will be getting service of a high standard when staying here. The room we stayed in was 120 pounds. It was an extremely small room with a tiny en -suite bathroom. The room was really old fashioned and whilst I expected to have old decor it was not done in a tasteful way giving the room a cluttered feel. When staying in a 4* hotel I would expect to have a hairdryer in the room however, the only means of drying my hair was to use a useless attached hairdryer in the bathroom. The hairdryer was so poor I decided to just leave my hair wet. I got up to have breakfast at the hotel. Whilst the pastries and fruit were good the cooked breakfast was of poor quality and extremely over cooked. The drinks in the bar were over priced (11.70 for a beer and glass of wine). It is a real shame as I can see that this venue has potentially a lot to offer but needs updating and the service improving.

“Nice Staff, Decent Rooms, Slow Service at Bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We stayed here for one night for a Wedding. The rooms were quite nice however cobwebs still hung in the bathroom, bed comfortable and decor old but nice. The staff were excellent and very welcoming and helpful. The bar staff although good were very slow and seemed to charge different prices for the same round. Breakfast was ok but seemed a little limited.
