Just returned from a two day (one night) stay at Wroxall Abbey, taking part in a company management conference.
The buildings are lovely, old and charming, just as expected. The free wifi in the public parts of the hotel is a big plus. The staff, whilst very young, were friendly and eager to help (which is instantly better than staff in other hotels I've stayed in recently). The conferencing facilities were very good - although the seating is starting to feel very second hand. Several chairs had been patched beyond what would have been reasonable repair and shouldn't have been used. The home-baked fresh cookies at coffee breaks were to die for, and the food we had prepared for us was top-notch.

The bedroom, oh boy - what a disappointment. I was in room 83 on the second floor. It was a fairly large double room with a wingback chair (that had faded upholstery and had seen better days), a TV (not flat screen), a bureau and a desk with a mirror. The bathroom had a corner bath with shower-over. First impression when walking in to the room was that it hadn't been properly cleaned, there was a huge, dubious stain in the middle of the floor. When I turned in for the night, the curtain didn't shut fully, and the bed turned out to be two singles put together, with different height mattresses, but it was very comfortable.

Using the shower in the morning, I looked up towards the recessed light fitting above and wondered "What on earth is growing inside that?". Have you seen Star Trek 3 - The Search for Spock? There were things in the light fittings that resembled what the microbes on Spock's burial torpedo started to grow into inside the light! The panel on the bath was also cracked, but covered up by a towel!

The room rate was £150, I'm glad it wasn't my own money that paid for it. I felt sadly disappointed....

We stayed for a friends wedding in April and were horrified at the state of rooms, bearing in mind it costs a small fortune to stay here! Dirty linen and unhelpful staff - very poor! I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE - save your money and stay elsewhere!

I held a meeting here for 2 days. The setting was fantastic. Staff very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, meeting room great. All of the food we ate here was really really good. We had freshly baked cookies in the meeting which were divine. Car parking really good. The hotel is very nice inside with some great original features. My room was a little tired but very clean. I wouldn't hesitate in booking this venue again for a meeting or for a weekend break away.

I stayed at the Wroxall Abbey Estate for 3 days recently and found the visit very relaxing. The hotel is grand, the food that they prepare is delicious and the short walks around the estate are great. It is good if one reads the Estate's history before visiting.
