My boyfriend and I stayed at the Cambridge Villa, after there was a mix up at another b&b down the road. The owners were lovely and very welcoming. We got our room and it was very spacious and the bathroom was clean and bright. A little rough around the edges but a nice homely place to stay. The full breakfast was very needed in the morning and went down a treat!
The room was very small, very tatty and worn. the ensuite was extremley small and covered in mold on the walls, tiles and ceilings.. The smell of the mould was very distinct. The bed spread althoug very clean was worn and had holes in it. Tea and coffee making facilities were ok, but having to get down on hands and knees to boil the kettle because of lack of sockets is no fun. The internal decore is tatty and peeling with lots of cracks running through the walls. In need of a compete refurb and should not be classified as a hotel.
On the positive side the full english breakfast on offer was splendid. The owner was very friendly and helpful.
Stayed here for one night after a great day "Jousting".
It isn't a Travel Lodge etc, therefore it is a bit quirky, but a lot more homely.
We had a lovely welcome from Mrs Brunel and were shown to our room, number 16, 4 poster bed, plenty of storage and a nice large shower cubicle. Other rooms in our party were smaller but all were clean and tidy.
The lady owner is lovely and will go out of her way to make you feel welcome, breakfast is great, I had no problems asking for a Vegetarian breakfast and I'm sure she would oblige with other requests (up to a limit!!).
Overall a great B & B and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
From the outside the hotel did look a little in need of attention, but the excellent friendly welcome and service during our stay from Mrs Bruna was a welcome change from places we've stayed before. There is parking around the back and its easy to get to, but a little' bumpy'. The room we stayed in was room 1 (having read previous comments on the hotel, i can confirm that the lock on this door is in perfect working order!) the room was spotless and the breakfast 'spot on'. I couldnt fault the hotel and would deffinatley go back again... great value for money and in a great location.
