“Dirty and smelly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We were pleased to see a no-smoking sign on our room. However, the stench of stale cigarette smoke inside the room was overpowering. When we saw the dust above the bed, we figured the cleaners were using the room for their cigarette breaks, rather than actually cleaning!

There was some early morning traffic noise, so if you must stay here, dont get a room facing the road!

Shame - this could be a decent hotel, if only it was clean.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the road.

I was shocked to read this comment as the hotel usually receives posistive comments in regards to cleanliness. The hotel also has a strict no smoking policy which staff and customers respect. I think perhaps the only answer on the smoke smell is there is an ashtray outside reception entrance and you mentioned about the traffic noise so the room would be above reception. If the housekeeping team had opened the window to air the room prior to arrival smoke may of drifted in from outside. I have spoken to the head housekeeper in regards to this matter and would like to reassure you that there is not usually dust in the rooms. I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near furture and please make yourself known.

Kind regards

“Lovely Stay in a Warwickshire Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We've just returned from an overnight stay at the Honiley Court Hotel, which was a second chance booking, following a disastrous experience at a sister hotel in Essex. Wow - what a difference! Like comparing Fawlty Towers to The Ritz! From start to finish, the hotel offered everything you'd expect from a hotel in this category. Lovely location - in a rural setting, large car-park and only 8 miles from Warwick centre and 10 miles to the NEC. OK, so some rooms face the semi-main road, but even The Ritz have rooms overlooking Piccadilly Circus! We were a family of 4 and were lucky enough to get adjoining rooms (by request) overlooking beautiful fields at the rear. We awoke to blue skies and a crisp, white, icy field run amok with a family of wild pheasant. You wouldn't get that in central London! Our receptionist upon arrival was an extremely sweet and very pretty young lady (sorry we didn't get your name, but you're a credit to the hotel) Our rooms couldn't have been nicer. Unusually large, with a massive, top quality bed and superb en-suite in white with marble trimmings. Great shower too. Only one little quibble, also mentioned by another reviewer, that the radiators had been set to max in the rooms and in the corridors. Even on the cold weekend we've just had, this heat was uncomfortable and we had to keep the windows ajar to dissipate this. We adjusted the stat to the lowest setting, but the radiators remained too hot to touch. However, we'd imagine that the more elderly guests would not find this to be an issue. The TV was modern with Freeview and picture faultless, which pleased our two boys. There is free wi-fi at the hotel which you have to get a daily code for. Our sons reported that the signal failed after a couple of hours, but weren't bothered as this was only a short stay. We had an evening meal, with a choice of the regular dining room or a specially laid on late, late Xmas gala dinner with disco! We opted for a quieter night and this turned out fine. We all enjoyed a well cooked and presented 3 course dinner which was hard to fault. The waiting staff were very polite and attentive and a special mention must go to a great character called Lola, a mature, Italian waitress who was just naturally very comical and archetypically Italian. Think of Sophia Petrillo (the older lady in the Sunshine Girls) and you'd be near the mark! Following our bad experience at the other hotel, the lovely manageress, Claire, came to see us before and after our meal to check we were happy and enjoying our stay. We told her everything was excellent and that all the staff were pleasant and helpful. She confided that she had personally hand picked them all to ensure the hotel ran smoothly and we felt she'd done a grand job. We all slept really well and enjoyed a perfectly adequate and good quality buffet breakfast, where the hot choices were attentively monitored and replenished by Lola's Italian, male counterpart (husband we suspect?) Unfortunately, our stay was all too quickly over, as we had to leave early for Warwick Castle. However, we will certainly be returning to the hotel in the future and have already recommended it to friends and colleagues who regularly visit the Midlands. Claire and team, many thanks again for a highly enjoyable experience!

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter and overlook scenic fields.

“Inconsistant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

What can I say about this hotel but inconsistent. I stayed for 2 weeks and the service, food and cleanliness was different on each day. This ranged from excellent to down right rude. A prime example of the food was a warm mushroom and bacon salad which one day was fantastic, another day it appeared that the rocket was cooked with it and that it had been served up in an ice cream scoop. The rooms were average and some days very clean and others rubbish bins were not emptied and hot drinks stocks not replenished. The hotel also boasts free Wifi which you have to obtain a daily code and the signal strength is poor. Where people had taken coffee or drinks outside the cups remained for a few days and outside bins were often overflowing. If you are staying I would recommend the Orange Tree for your evening meal as you never can be sure what you are going to get at the hotel. Also beware when charging things to your room as sometimes they will not appear and others you will get over charged. The hotel is tired and the staff requires direction.

“Good location but WORST SERVICE ever Not 4 star standard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011 via mobile

Short review: JUST STAY ELSEWHERE
Long review: Always stay the first weekend of December in different hotels throughout UK each year. This has been the worst in the last 10 years! While our Room (30) was tidy and reasonably clean it was not 4 star standard. However our complaint was with the poor service we received during our stay. For ease we alway eat in the hotel on the first night the was no meet and greet on fact no waitress to be seen plus nobody on reception! Eventually a waitress the only one working in the restuarant, carrying drinks from the bar nodded at a table, we had to ask for everything, menu, bread roll, to order etc etc. food was OK but the slow speed of service ruined it. The breakfast the following morning was a farce, same lonely waitress it was impossible to have a full English breakfast from the buffet as she could not keep up with serving tea/ coffee and replenish the food, so there was always one or two dishes empty. This was repeated Saturday night with the added insult of being told that the Christmas dinner was served containing one slice of turkey the size of your palm as standard for 19.99. Sunday morning breakfast was even worse. Much more but all of the same problem. On complaining on leaving we were given the managers email address as nobody was available to speak in person. After all this the young lad on receiption asked "other than that did you emjoy your stay" he seemed astonished to my saying NO !!
