We've just returned from an overnight stay at the Honiley Court Hotel, which was a second chance booking, following a disastrous experience at a sister hotel in Essex. Wow - what a difference! Like comparing Fawlty Towers to The Ritz! From start to finish, the hotel offered everything you'd expect from a hotel in this category. Lovely location - in a rural setting, large car-park and only 8 miles from Warwick centre and 10 miles to the NEC. OK, so some rooms face the semi-main road, but even The Ritz have rooms overlooking Piccadilly Circus! We were a family of 4 and were lucky enough to get adjoining rooms (by request) overlooking beautiful fields at the rear. We awoke to blue skies and a crisp, white, icy field run amok with a family of wild pheasant. You wouldn't get that in central London! Our receptionist upon arrival was an extremely sweet and very pretty young lady (sorry we didn't get your name, but you're a credit to the hotel) Our rooms couldn't have been nicer. Unusually large, with a massive, top quality bed and superb en-suite in white with marble trimmings. Great shower too. Only one little quibble, also mentioned by another reviewer, that the radiators had been set to max in the rooms and in the corridors. Even on the cold weekend we've just had, this heat was uncomfortable and we had to keep the windows ajar to dissipate this. We adjusted the stat to the lowest setting, but the radiators remained too hot to touch. However, we'd imagine that the more elderly guests would not find this to be an issue. The TV was modern with Freeview and picture faultless, which pleased our two boys. There is free wi-fi at the hotel which you have to get a daily code for. Our sons reported that the signal failed after a couple of hours, but weren't bothered as this was only a short stay. We had an evening meal, with a choice of the regular dining room or a specially laid on late, late Xmas gala dinner with disco! We opted for a quieter night and this turned out fine. We all enjoyed a well cooked and presented 3 course dinner which was hard to fault. The waiting staff were very polite and attentive and a special mention must go to a great character called Lola, a mature, Italian waitress who was just naturally very comical and archetypically Italian. Think of Sophia Petrillo (the older lady in the Sunshine Girls) and you'd be near the mark! Following our bad experience at the other hotel, the lovely manageress, Claire, came to see us before and after our meal to check we were happy and enjoying our stay. We told her everything was excellent and that all the staff were pleasant and helpful. She confided that she had personally hand picked them all to ensure the hotel ran smoothly and we felt she'd done a grand job. We all slept really well and enjoyed a perfectly adequate and good quality buffet breakfast, where the hot choices were attentively monitored and replenished by Lola's Italian, male counterpart (husband we suspect?) Unfortunately, our stay was all too quickly over, as we had to leave early for Warwick Castle. However, we will certainly be returning to the hotel in the future and have already recommended it to friends and colleagues who regularly visit the Midlands. Claire and team, many thanks again for a highly enjoyable experience!
Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter and overlook scenic fields.
