“Wedding Belles a fathers review ....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

My son had his wedding reception here, there was some concern, as the staff turnover seems to be high. However, the place is fantastic, I had room one which was fabulous, the weather was sunny and warm and a great time was had by all.

There is a new manager called John, who seems to be the reason for the better atmosphere, he has this nice and strange view that they are there to service their customers, which if you read other reviews of this place was not something that was promoted by the management.

So the food for the wedding was fine, could have done with more staff, but my Salmon Salad was excellent. my chicken was only ok, but pear tart was nice, several of my family members commented on how nice they thought the food was!

There are some niggles; they wouldn't/couldn't provide a mike for the speeches, there was a huge price hike on drinks from the hotel bar price to the hired room price ( pint of San Migel £2.90, now £3.30), there was also only one waitress around for all the breakfasts in the morning.

In saying all that it's a fantastic venue, and providing John stays on as Manager and is able to weed out or motivate some of the staff then the place will get better, it deserves to.

I wasn't able to take my clubs which I regret as it looks like a great course, and the Golf deals they offer £125 for Room/Dinner/Golf is quite frankly a steal.

Our family wedding, went wonderfully, glorious weather and no one had anything but a great time. I agree with some of the previous reviews, having had a very nasty and rude lunch here in May, So, in summing up. Providing the staff training/attitude/turnover issues are resolved, this place is a little gem!

Room Tip: Room 1 very nice

“What a pity!”

We had bought a voucher from a national website for a 2 course meal and looked forward to a pleasant evening at a local restaurant we hadn't tried. On arrival we were totally ignored by a man, presumably the manager, who kept his back firmly turned to us while doing something at the bar. After wandering around for a while also being ignored by the young waitresses the man finally sat us at possibly the worst table in the restaurant despite only another 3 tables being occupied in one part of the large dining areas. The menu was on crumpled A4 paper and our waitress had clearly received no training and had no idea of what was on the menu. Complimentary canapes were a nice touch, and the starters of scallops were good but when my husband asked for some bread to accompany the dish, our waitress said she'd check with the kitchen. She returned to say they could do some, but we'd have to pay extra. My husband's main course of steak was served only with mushrooms and tomatoes, chips were extra, whilst my lamb served with an overwhelming amount of red onion marmalade and one (supposedly) fondant potato was so tough it was inedible. No-one asked why my meal was virtually untouched and we decided not to bother with desserts. Fortunately our wine was very good value for money.

There has been a huge amount of money spent on interior design but unfortunately the basic requirements for a successful restaurant are just not there. One unfriendly "manager", three untrained teenagers acting as waitresses and someliers for three tables and a kitchen without great cooking skill is unlkely to draw customers out to this venue.

“Disappointing for the price-even for an 'offer'”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

I had purchased a voucher for a 'meal deal' of 2 courses in the evening ,and had invited family members to come with us. We were impressed by the restaurant room itself- open fire, spacious, beamed, well-lit, and the staff were very helpful and friendly- certainly full marks there.
However, the food is very expensive for what it is. The offer was clear that a supplement was payable for a baked Camembert, but as I love this dish ,I decided that it must be special for £7.50 and ordered that. It was very tasty and had it been less money, fine. But the size of the cheese-2"ish round of cheese, paltry 2 small pieces of bread and 2 teaspoons of chutney certainly gives them a huge profit. There was not one vegetarian dish on the menu which immediately set me apart from my guests. The waitress offered to ask the chef what he could do and a reasonable -albeit limited in portion- mushroom risotto was ordered. Options would have been goats cheese and onion tart as usual.I thought those days of 'we'll see what we can do' had long gone. My husband's steak was flavourless despite the flavoured butter; the £3.50 'fat chips' were nuclear hot, mainly McCain-like crispy and few in number. The pork looked ok, but my aunt did not say much and as she is 89 doesn't complain when taken out. I was embarrassed really- too much so to make a fuss. Desserts were generally very nice, however. The cheesecake looked lovely but lacked flavour. (Not in the offer, but the miserable meal meant we wanted pudding!) Cheese platter looked uninspiring.
Overall, had we been paying in full, I would have made a bit of a fuss, but even so the bill was over £50 with 2 glasses of wine, 2 beers and the desserts. It was not worth the original saving though. It was a disappointing visit and I'm not sure I would go again given the food/price balance. Better food or cheaper- not as it is now.

“Golf weekend”

We stayed at the hotel between 20 to 22 may . We went for a golf break and was pleasantly surprised by the hotel . Rooms were modern and clean . Nothing special but ideal for a golf break . The golf course was superb . The hotel is situated just outside of Stratford so it's in a perfect location . I would definitely stay here again for a golf break .

“Ideal for a wedding”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

Just back from our friends wedding at Ingon Manor Hotel, where we stayed overnight. The hotel is ideal for a wedding, overlooking a golf course and just of main road networks round Stratford.
The hotel its self is fine, friendly check-in and shown straight to the room, which was quite small but adequate for one night. The room was clean and tidy with a good size en-suite shower room. We didn't stay long in the room as we had a wedding to go to at the other side of the hotel. The wedding was great, lovely service in the old barn bit of the hotel, good hot buffet, helpful staff and pig roast later in the evening. After dancing the night away it was soon time for bed, there are only 12 rooms so its not noisy just a few creeky floorboards and flushing of toilets. Soon we were fast asleep due to all the wine consumed and slept really well. Our friends were in the attic rooms (old staff quarters) - these have limited head room and again small rooms but they slept ok.
Next morning a good English breakfast was had with excellent coffee and again friendly staff. So if you are looking for a good wedding location in a hotel in the country - the manor is well worth a visit.
