“motor cycles not welcome”

Got this site out of the britains caravan and camping book.
The book contains all good sites,as we were touring the bottom half of England,we decided to stop over night and picked this site.On arrival a couple in a car, with a tent got on to the site no problem. I entered the reception and asked if we could camp for one night, got a frosty welcome and said that they were full, there were lots of spaces in the field,we were on a bmw touring bike, in our 50s and not dressed like satan slaves. didn't they want our money.we went to the tourist information office, and was given a list of sites local to the town, the site we ended up on was very clean and they welcomed us with open arms, a lovley site next to the aerodrome.i don't recommend this site for anyone it should be taken out of the camping book,

“loved the manager and his wife”

we have stayed a few times at dodwell park in a touring caravan, and contary to the other reviews ,we have found the manager and his wife very nice friendly people. It is not fair to expect "Tesco" prices in the shop but you can get the neccesities at a fair price. I must admit the bathroom facilities could do with a makeover, but they are kept very clean. If I have still got my van I shall visit again this year.

“First Camping Experience!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2008

This campsite was our 2nd choice (being the furthest away from the town center) and the trek was a nightmare. Needless to say after 2 hours of lugging all our tent equipment, clothes and food up extremely steep hills we were glad to see this little haven. However, our rose tinted glasses soon fell off.

Upon arriving it took the owner almost half an hour to come and greet us. Even though we'd rung the bell several times. She slumped over to us and asked us what we wanted...We had tents, and rucksacks... was she joking??

Perhaps she was a little reluctant to let us stay due to our age, we must have been a good 80 years younger than all the other campers and after paying £48 for two tent pitches for two nights she gave us a tiny spot right outside the house. So she obviously didn't want to keep an eye on us...

On the site which is actually quite cute, there is constant running water available, an adequate bathroom (decent but I refused to shower in there) a convenience store and two huge bins. Which by the looks of it hadn't been emptied for some time. Luckily we were upwind of them. The store itself was also full of old rubbish...literally. Fair enough it has everything a camper could need but the batteries we bought which were extortionate were dead before we'd even used them and some chewing gum Mike had got was like dust. After the shopkeeper swapped them three times she finally gave us our money back and the next day a certificate of hygiene was placed on the wall.

There were good points though...one night Sarah fell ill and needed a drink, the shop however had closed some hours ago. Begrudgingly the owner opened up for us to purchase some juice. Taxis in Stratford-
upon-avon are brilliant and were our means of getting out of the campsite. It was literally in the middle of nowhere. There is a bus stop opposite but the timetable isn't very frequent. We were also allowed disposable barbeques and some small ball games, which is unusual at a campsite now-a-days. Overall the break was enjoyable but only due to there being 4 of us and making the most out of a bad situation!!!

“Nice quaint site”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2007

I stayed at Dodwell Park for a couple of nights camping with the new tent and to see a bit of Stratford. The campsite is about 3 miles outside Stratford but a regular bus does run from directly opposite the park so the location is pretty good.

The entrance to the site is quite smart with a number of pre fabricated retirement homes, the gardens are really pretty so it’s really welcoming.

The site itself is very small with a small shop and reception area. The shop building looks like something from the fifties and the choice is limited and expensive, £7.99 for a poor red wine. The site attendant was very friendly and had us onsite in no time.

The shower and toilet facilities are also very dated and not welcoming but are cleaned regularly.

The site was very quiet when we stayed, although another family told us the two nights prior were a nightmare as lots of people from the grasstrack racing across the road were partying all night. It maybe worth checking when these events are on before booking in.

Overall this is a nice site but could do with some upgrades to the facilities. At £12 per night for a tent it’s not to badly priced.
